    man miracle port incoming

  • I bet PlayStation still has marketing rights for Part 3 even though it’ll be multiplatform on day 1, so it will be revealed at the June State of Play, and not Summer Game Fest like many are expecting

Need to get back into Rebirth sometime. Forever grateful that they changed the gameplay from crusty turn based to free flow combat

While the combat in rebirth is pretty fun, I still prefer turn based. They should give the the option in FF7 3

Sometimes I wonder if I was too harsh on Rebirth. It was such a distinctly magical experience at first, but the side content burned me out so f***ing bad by the end man. I wonder how my experience would’ve been if I had skipped it all

Gotta say I treated the optional content a very optional and I think it increased my enjoyment

  • speaking of I gotta play this again

The mini games got super annoying & I hated Gongaga. But that being said, great game, loved the game overall and haven’t played anything as fun as it since then, besides Yakuza 0

Part 3’s gotta be next year, right? The director is doing interviews for it left and right.

yea has to be, next year is 30th anniversary

  • I skipped most of the side content and still clocked 70+ hours (plenty of afk time there though). Might go back and do a sweep of all the stuff I missed at some point.

4 year turn around for both sequels given the scope of them (with part 3 likely being significantly bigger than Rebirth, which was already massive) is f***ing insanity.

Hard difficulty in Rebirth feels way more unforgiving than Remake

    Wiped against Midgardsormr four times

Edit: the bosses in the next chapter were much easier 💀

just rolled credits copying and pasting my review from backloggd

For the most part this was incredible. I already loved the combat in Remake and they managed to make it even better. The synergy skills and abilities are such a great new addition. This is probably my favorite combat system ever. It's so much fun queueing up an ability or spell, swapping to someone else to build ATB, queue something up, switch again and repeat. I thought the boss fights were well made too, there was really only one that I didn't like.

I think where the game struggled the most was in it's open zones. It's cool to have such big open space to explore but with so much of the content just being copy and pasted, I quickly lost any motivation to fill out the map. I just stuck to doing the protorelic questline, queen's blood and the mogstools and skipped everything else once I got a little past the halfway mark. The side quests have improved from Remake, but that's not saying much, I only did a handful of them.

The story was a bit of a slow burn. I felt like it took until Chapter 8 for it to get it's hooks in me. Before that it sorta felt directionless and like we were just going from place to place with little reason. I really loved the Golden Saucer, there was so much going on visually and I loved all the minigames. When the story did start to pick up, I was locked in. I felt like I was following along with everything pretty well for the most part, until the end. I'll definitely have to look up some explanations cause it sorta lost me.

Yuffie was so much fun to play in her dlc for Remake and she's even more fun in this game. I really liked how they expanded on her kit. Cait Sith was probably my favorite character throughout the whole game. The second he appeared on screen I was fully invested in what was going on with him. I thought he was hilarious and his English VA gave him so much charm and character. I usually don't like luck based fighting styles but I found his to be really enjoyable. I was glad to see Barret and Tifa get more development too. I thought their moments were great.

Photomode was a big disappointment. The game is beautiful and the combat is so dynamic but photomode lacks the tools capture the true essence of the game.

Overall a beautiful journey with a cast of characters that just keeps getting better. Can't wait for the finale

With all these interviews and talks of a reveal this summer, it’s crazy to think that this could release early next year.

3 year turn around of a game of this scope is pretty unprecedented.

Hell, the fact that something like Rebirth only took 4 years still boggles my mind.
