The Arbiter of Fate that the party defeats is the literal manifestation of destiny, the force that makes sure events happen like they do in the original Final Fantasy 7. This opens up anything and everything, meaning the future of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is no longer certain. Whatever happened in the original game doesn't have to happen anymore. This lets Square Enix tell an entirely new story if they want. Right now there's no way to tell exactly what's going to happen with the next part of the Remake, but it's entirely up to Square Enix after the ending of the first part.
