Bro I’m telling you, and the people who have played the OG can tell you too, playing the OG is highly recommended.
You can be turned off by it being an old game sure, but trust me, it isn’t obsolete
When did the play the OG is the important question

agreed. it definitely helps you appreciate the remake a bit more as well imo.
it took me a bit to get over the graphics, but it's really not that bad at all when you get into it. i played on PC with some graphical mod upgrades, but as soon as i got deeper into the game, i just turned em all of. OG graphics have way more charm (well besides the lowres textures and all that, but don't think those matter all that much).
I'm not saying the OG is trash, but be fair. Someone saying it's an essential play cus they played it as a kid and will always remember how they felt when they first played it is not the same as a dude playing the OG version for the first time in 2021
Never played the original and this game was amazing until I realized this game only covers apparently the first few hours of the original. That worries me tbh
Once I seen the level of detail and care and straight awesomeness they put into this s*** I see why they didn't put in more than they did
When did the play the OG is the important question
I’ve played it for the first time back on the PS3, it was on the PSN store around 2012-2013. It wasn’t my first Final Fantasy either, as I played X back on the PS2.

I want to say why the OG is so beneficial to play but I literally can’t
All I can say is, as a nigga who jumped right into FF7R, playing the OG could not make this game any more gas than it already is.
Matter of fact it might even lessen the experience because you'd play the game, do the story, but then play a remake of the game you just played. Experiencing the absolute movie that is this game is the bulk of the fun. I really don't know what's finna happen next and everything in the moment is so crazy and immersive.
Additionally, you not gonna play FF7R right after you play the OG. Because you just played that s***. You not gonna feel the urgency.
If anything I would say play the OG after. Now that FF7R is available, I would call it an interesting decision to choose to experience the game on PS1 before you experience it on PS4
But keep in mind. I am a nigga who did not play the original

it took me so long to actually play it because i couldn't get past the mental hurdle of me thinking it was too dated. i actually just finished it for the first time back in december, so like 8 months after ff7r.
i wanna say i preferred OG 7 more than the remake, though think that's solely because OG 7 has more variety and you aren't kept in midgar the entire time. not really gonna blame the remake for not providing that experience though. like i said though, finishing OG 7 made me appreciate the remake a good bit more. really cool to see how they fleshed out a 4-5 hour part of the game into a really well done 35 hour game. game probably went from an 8/10 to 9/10 for me just because i played the original
though honestly, think my rating of the remake is a bit unfair after riding the high of playing it immediately after finishing persona 5 royal. genuinely nothing can beat that game for me
All I’m gonna say is, if your playing remake rn, have a blast with it, it’s a great game.
If you are on the fence of getting this game but are still interested in the series, I can not stress it enough to why playing the OG first is a much more grand experience.

Lol respect I f*** with both sides. That man gonna have to choose his own path. But we laid it out for him as well and respectfully as we could 😂
It's on him now. Respect bro 🤝

I glad you having a great time with game man, I’ve been peeping the streams from time to time. It’s always a treat to see how people experience FF7 for the first time, especially this time around with FF7R.
When you beat the game though, we definitely gotta talk about it.
Also if anyone itt is looking for another great FF game to play, 6 is really good! Old, but good! X as well!
Don’t play 8, game sucks lol
