I have inside sources saying tonight
also whoever liked that i'm shooting in the back of the head like of mice and men btw
Chill w the d***eating i don’t think the cinematic vision frank had in mind translated well overtime, especially after his signature sound and unconventional song structures have been exhausted by other artists since blonde came out. It adds good weight to the more conventional songs on the first half of the album, but it’s a pretty anticlimactic cornerstone for what is an otherwise uneventful back half of the album. I would never listen to the song on its own as loses a lot of its luster when not listened to as part of the album
If you feel otherwise then leave it at that no need to be a reactionary leftist about it. Frank hates mfs like you actually

find god.
find god.
I did actually I was just dreaming a thought that could dream about a thought that could think of the dreamer that thought that could think of dreaming and getting a glimmer of God
what do you think is better?
I like brevity and sparseness from Frank and his usage of both was elevated on cayendo compared to seigfried for example imo
what do i think is better on blonde?
literally the entire album and that’s not to downplay cayendo because it’s a lovely track

this is genuinely the first time i’ve seen any negative opinions on the backend of blonde in 9 years lool most people feel that’s where it really gets dark and fleshes out the themes of the album
sure artists may have ripped off his song structures and idiosyncratic production tendencies but seigfried has most definitely aged very gracefully and may really go down as his quintessential song.
it’s been a decade and none of his peers have been able to match the brilliance of it. the ambient and psychedelic soul production mixed with existentialism and uncovering his own personal identity is just perfection

who do you consider his peers?
I used to associate frank with Radiohead and dangelo pretty directly but I dont see a song like Siegfried holding a candle to songs from either of those artists that espouse the same qualities that you mentioned

Hes def up there with them in his own way. Blonde aside we cant forget endless, channel orange and nostalgia ultra
Songs like lost, rushes, pyramids, novacane etc all are goat level songs

Ngl I kind of agree with you on the backend. I really don't visit those songs alone when playing mixes. Otherwise they do the job with holding up the album to its classic status

frank’s peers would be the artists that came up around his time that ended up redefining contemporary pop, alternative and r&b so..
the weeknd, james blake, blood orange, jai paul, solange, miguel
i get the dangelo comparison simply off the hiatus but sonically dangelo’s writing and production is nowhere near as off-kilter and sparse as frank’s.. he doesn’t have a pyramids, mitsubishi sony or pilot jones/sierra leone (not that it’s a knock on his discography but d and frank are very different)
and radiohead i don’t care to listen to because i can’t stand thom yorke’s whiny ass voice
Unless he drops a single official song again I associate him mostly with artists that have either retired or died
Godspeed is the best song on the back half of Blonde IMO
Nikes thru Nights is absolutely euphoric and still peak
I used to glaze the back half of the album until I started taking Lexapro and working full time
Close to You is fantastic
My vinyl finally arrived today and I’m keeping it sealed until I buy a nice player for it
Close To You, White Ferrari, Seigfried, Godspeed, and Futura Free is an incredible way to close an album lol. What the hell are you guys talking about?
hell cayendo isn't even touching summer remains as far as that lowkey sound goes
yeah i never liked cayendo at all. dear april is goated though
