Said it I was in NY I should look you up
There’s something about Good Guy for me. Really exposed writing, minimalist and to the point. Super underrated track on Blonde imo
“And you text nothing like you look”
“Here’s when I realized you talk so much more than I do”
“I know you don’t need me right now”
“And to you it’s just a late night out”
Probably the most simple song on the whole album. I’d assume this is how it was recorded but I really love how this one sounds like it was performed similar to the live version in a voice memo and then snapped into tempo in a daw. Adds some mixture to the fidelity of an otherwise immaculately mixed and mastered album.
Lyrics are some of the best on the album and the whole song feels like he wrote it in that moment and it ended up being good enough to be on the album. Awesome stuff
Was listening to the full discography for the first time since probably 2023
Interesting the subtle changes in his voice from the CO era to Blonded era
Even on Wise Man compared to like Self Control
He seems to have gained more control and comfort in his chest voice in between albums

CO = 92 overall rated
Blonde / Endless = 99 overall rated
There’s a buzzy and exciting new horror coming out this Friday called Leviticus that uses a Self Control needle drop! Frank approved the usage after they wrote him a letter. The movie has been getting great reception and hype out of festivals, has amazing reviews.

Spoilers for how the song is used: The song is apparently the ending needle drop. Can’t wait to see it
Today is the first day in a long, long time that a thought crossed my mind about what kind of music Frank is making recently. Like what is even the basis of sounds he's interested in at the moment.
One day.

I could see music taking a backseat to the film at the moment, assuming any music intended has already been recorded and that filming is still goin on.
My hope is it sounding most aligned to the diary snippet and/or Changes. Those feel like they strike that special balance between classic and contemporary sounds that he is so so so good at doing.
I love good guy. Lyrics are so honest, so real. love the way he sings it. I love it so much
