U don't think it's an issue that many groups with violent white supremacist values think they're entitled enough to do s*** like that

    wild

Fam you can spin it however you want. The minute they bring that energy to black communities then I’ll care.

Didn’t they get arrested and about to face time? What else y’all want, I’m not gonna fake cry about white people storming other white people. That’s they problem.

If they tryna take out they frustrations I’d rather It be directed at the right ppl rather than what happen in Charleston

I get where you're coming from and if you've never encountered those types irl I especially get it. To me it's just the type of thing that indifference is almost enabling, y'know. I get you though

My thing is, yes these are violent people and they not just finna stay in they crib. So IMO if they gotta bang out on someone I’d rather it be at a state capital rather than a neighborhood with innocent bystanders who don’t got s*** to do with politics, etc.

I could see Jordan peele turning the big payback into a full length movie. Adding an unhinged black man that ends up losing a "reoperations" case and he goes on to be serial killer that only targets rich whites

    Cut the check @A24

I don't mind the anthology episodes "taking away" from the main cast but if anything it just makes me wish he'd start a show like that after season 4 airs and this show ends. s*** would b cool

I think more than anything its just supposed to add further insight into the "alternate" universe that the show takes place in. Its supposed to be bizarre and absurd but i think thats what the glovers and hiro are going for. Part social commentary part comedy

Not gonna go check to confirm

But I thought it was odd that his name was Earnest + the main character of episode 4 calls him “E” without him ever introducing himself if I remember correctly

I think he introduces himself like "Earnest, but my friends call me E". Which is still a little weird because they aren't friends

Not the consensus at all. You gotta speak for yourself, my guy.
And no, they aren't. People are projecting their idea of what they think Atlanta should be, and they're attacking the way the show is exploring and presenting certain ideas revolving a very complex issue. An idea that can be explored and/or presented through a number of ways. People are complaining about it either being too on the nose, or too complex for what they think the show should be. Like, which one is it? If not, both, as it depends on the viewer, and not the show. It's presenting its idea just fine, the level of awareness between viewers is not all the same though.

The show is not presenting an opinion for you to agree or disagree with. It's exploring a topic and presenting you one possible interpretation of a very broad and deep topic. Then you can complain about the execution, but it's execution of what it wanted to achieve is precisely the way they wanted. It's just not conforming to how you want the topic handled or executed. It's not going to be done differently, except in your imagination, or in another show, in another format maybe, which again, just leads back to your imagination.

Also, it's a surreal tv-show, reflecting what we deem reality, but it's still not the actual reality we're living in and therefor won't and/or doesn't have to abide and conform to all the parameters and views we have of 'real life', so it's unfair criticism from some of you to expect that out of it.

    Nah

I just feel like taking a show that had barely scratched the surface of any of its characters or long term plot points switching to cater to white people (even if it’s in an inverse way) is lame lol

The non linear plot points would be cool if they still featured the main cast a la all the episodes like that in the first two seasons

  • Apr 11, 2022

This episode has brought out some pretty wild takes itt

The season has been massively better than what this thread makes it seem

Reading some of the last few pages. Don’t understand how some of y’all attack the POV of ppl wanting this show to dial back on the white-centered themes. Especially when the criticism I’ve seen is coming from a place of love for the first 2 seasons.

No doubt this seasons theme has been focused on whiteness thru the first 4 eps. I think we all appreciate the quality of this show, it’s just some would like the content to shift back to showcasing the black experience without acknowledging white ppl thru every plot point.

  • Apr 11, 2022

Interesting ep. I was kinda waiting for a twist but they played it straight

  • Some of y'all are doing to Atlanta what "fans" have been doing to Euphoria, in terms of projecting what they think the show should be.

Your interpretation and idea of what the show is is not facts dawg.

The characters are fleshed out as much as they want them to be fleshed out. The characters are not Atlanta(the show), they too are just a tool that serve the greater ideas that the writers try to explore. They're not as much the focus as you've come to believe. It shows in how the season's writing has been so far.

'Switching to cater to white people' is just your interpretation of what's going on. Nothing wrong with that way of thinking, but it's still just your interpretation.

  • Apr 11, 2022

Stephen Glover already said that this season was going to touch on these things.

I mean the very 1st scene of this season lays out the theme for season 3 pretty well

Fam what are black people getting out of these “this is how good white people think and behave” messages lol

It’s p*** for white people who like to roll around in their guilt and blavity blacks who feel like these are groundbreakingly deep concepts.

They did all this in seconds with dude flashing the gun/earn not being able to use the $100 bill in earlier episodes. That’s how you organically and relatably tackle these themes. I feel like the Darius Asian girl white guilt thing was forced but even that was better than a straight up 30 minute random sketch lmao.

All that s*** about “what you think the show should be” is a cop out to where we just gotta accept whatever they put out with no opinions that arent positive 😂😂😂

Glad to see from the trailer they taking a break from that s*** this week tho.

Some good points here but if most of these notes were addressed the satire would fall apart.

  • Bro this first episode. This show is so crazy

Again, it's not doing what you're making it seem it's doing at all. You're doing nothing but projecting your own views on race relations, white people and black people, and acting like your subjective outlook is somehow a one true objective reality. And with that way of thinking acting like it renders Atlanta and the way it explores these complex issues obsolete.

My g, I'm not trying to force you to enjoy the show or these new episodes at all. You apparently have a preferred way that you like to have these topics explored and that's all goodie. Do you. All I've been saying, and will continue to say is that your opinion is neither fact nor general consensus. I'm not even arguing with how you personally feel about it.

PS: ain't s*** just about black and/or white people. Everything in life comes down to awareness at the core, but I'll leave it at that.
