You could see it in the beginning before s*** got weird
That wasn’t even close to my interpretation of it, she was just being protective over her but I guess that’s the beauty of this show.. it’s all about perspective
zazie had ass this whole time ??
WHAT ??
When I saw Zazie get in those pants I was slightly confused
When I saw Zazie get in those pants I was slightly confused
Guess I’m not mature as I think
Got some healin to do

Remember when she was talking to the hair stylist she said that it would be a cool experience for her daughter to see her do something she always wanted to do. Then the scenario flips on her and she becomes the one watching her daughter do something she wanted to do. She becomes protective when s*** turns left and gets weird
Episode feels like kinda a pot shot. Tyler Perry is such an easy person to dunk on and you’re not really saying anything original or interesting when you do it cause the internet is ten years ahead of you on it
I mean this show is based on Atlanta and I think him having the biggest movie studio in Atlanta alone is worth talking about some degree I mean they’ve mentioned Plenty of places that only relate directly to Atlanta so I thought it was good commentary because the boondocks did a funny ass episode 10 years ago doesn’t mean he can’t ever be parodied again
I think there was definitely a bit of jealousy from Van. Acting was her dream so seeing her daughter living out her dream and being praised for it hurt her ego
it’s a valid interpretation with some truth to it that the writers def wrote in with a purpose
but let’s not act like mr chocolate wasn’t a creep
i mean the way he yelled at van pretty much confirmed he was up to no good
at the end of the day, as much as her daughter enjoyed it, we have seen how miserable these child stars become because of what goes on behind the scenes. the crude sexual advance from the random nigga, no one having a proper schedule for this new child actress, there was plenty of cause for concern even if he gave her a clean contract
i have mixed feelings ab the episode but MOST RESPECTFULLY
zazie
church ladies monologue about rejecting the love of a child was brilliant
this being our first introduction to lottie as an independent character and not just a plot device
lottie’s braids
:
the shot of lottie through the stage cameras was f***ing brilliant
i think it was just too short. like the pacing was as good as it could be for an episode but god i wanted more. teddy perkins was a slow burn, i don’t think this one had a chance to. when the episode works it works, but a lot of the problems ppl had with paris episode, im starting to understand here.
their ability to suspend your disbelief in the van episodes are kinda.. weak. but i also believe they do amazing character study when they’re willing to go this f***in far out. so i’ll take it.
it’s just for some reason more believable to get into this weird stuff with Al then it is with van…

Yeah I meant before things got weird when she was watching Lotte act. After her daughter went missing, her mother instincts kicked in. That was definitely a s*** deal with Mr chocolate

i see i see, i agree
When I saw Zazie get in those pants I was slightly confused
Guess I’m more hornier than I thought
Got some simping to do

Financially stabile until the age of 21 is a horrible deal lmfao
Nah not in the slightest
That's low-key the entire conflict of the episode. Is she stopping Lottie from doing it because she's jealous or because it's right for Lottie?
I think she makes the right decision bc Mr. Choco is absolutely unhinged and it'd potentially ruin Lottie's life to be trapped in contracts for years.
And the reason she makes the decision is bc she realizes she's not always going to be there to protect her. But in this instance she is and she can protect her from making bad decisions

Maybe I need to watch it again because I didn’t notice her being jealous
But you are right about everything you said. I loved this episode so much. I usually rewatch right before the next episode so I’ll revisit my thoughts then
S4 been pretty underwhelming. Think imma wait until the rest of the episodes are out to binge it.
