Or The show might just end in such perfect way that I wouldn’t want them to touch this show ever again . Everyone gets a satisfying send off n everytime we rewatch the series we finish with tears in our eyes . It’s been such a journey , I appreciate this show so much and there will never be anything like it in my lifetime
I like season 3 and its anthology eps but these pretentious rebuttals aren’t it
people wanting this show to have an actual storyline =/= wanting it to be a black Dave
the one-off episodes simply aren’t for everybody and that’s okay. liking or disliking them doesn’t make you more or less intelligent than the average person nor is it a test of your views on race. like all art, the s*** is subjective
This. I don't even mind the anthology episodes, but a few of the episodes in S3 are just mid and there's little development/progress for the main characters even in the episodes they are in. A Goof Who Sat By The Door would've been one of the better episodes of S3 if it was in that season
And who tf is calling Atlanta Black Dave, I've never seen that before this thread
Atlanta came first and is the far more popular show. If anything Dave gets compared to Atlanta and not the other way around
What if the series finale just fills all the plot holes
i have a feeling it’s gonna leave more questions than answers, in true atlanta fashion
Alfred episode next week
the last ep is all them together hopefully , need them together one last time
Is it just me or is season 2 slightly better than season 1?
Is it just me or is season 2 slightly better than season 1?
Slightly? S2 is the best season
I don't understand how they end this show in 2 episodes
My theory is that they won’t. Everybody will be disappointed and writers will be like “lol”
Slightly? S2 is the best season
Ik but I really liked season 1 too
Is it just me or is season 2 slightly better than season 1?
Season 2 is BY FAR the best season
Is it just me or is season 2 slightly better than season 1?
Season 2 laps season 1
Season 2 9.5/10
Season 4 (might tie up with 2 depending on how they finish) N/A yet
Season 1 8.5/10
Season 3
Season 3 is still good though id give it like a 7.5/10 upon my initial impression but im rewatching rn
Season 2 laps season 1
I guess it’s just me
i still prefer season 2 but season 1 was unlike anything I’ve seen on tv as well

Season 1 is great, the whole show is GOATED but when them niggas dropped North of the Boarder and FUBU back to back it was over
But season 1 had some of the best episodes of the show. The pilot, nobody beats the biebs, B.A.N, the club, juneteenth
Only episode of season 1 i dont love is Values and even that was still pretty good
Is it just me or is season 2 slightly better than season 1?
They could’ve ended with S2 and the show would still be top 25 ever
In the previous episode Earn was trying to talk Van into moving the family to L.A. while he continues with his career in the entertainment business.
This episode is all about a black man making it in L.A. in the entertainment business while trying to do right by his family.
brilliant post on this episode i found from another board
"This episode was partly a euphemism for Donald to describe himself and how Atlanta was created
Donald grew up being made fun of for “acting white”. He even had a favorite cousin who he was close too that used to protect him from being bullied by the other kids. This mirrors Washington’s cousin talking about how THEY grew up.
Donald out of College was recruited by Tina Fey as a writer for 30 Rock, through a DIVERSITY PROGRAM. This mirrors Washington getting into Disney through the same manner.
Donald assembled an all black writers room for Atlanta, to create the most authentically black show on television. This mirrors Washington recruiting Frank Rolls, who at the time was a low-level employee, to lead animator on Goofy Movie. Donald recruited his brother Stephen, and other black people who either had NO writing experience or were working as assistants & PA’s, and made them full time writers for Atlanta’s first season.
Donald “Trojan Horsed” the pitch for Atlanta. He sold FX on the idea that the show was going to be one thing, while going behind their backs and making it something deeper & bolder. This mirrors Washington wanting to use a Goofy Movie to tell a deeper story about black people in America.
Donald was told by executives at FX what the characters could and couldn’t say/do. Mainly that only the white character Dave in the pilot could say “nikka”. Donald hired Paul Sims as an executive producer as a “white delegate” to convince the executives at FX to allow Donald the freedom to allow the black characters to speak authentically. This mirrors Washington having to do things he didn’t want like adding Mickey and Big Foot to the film."
for sure, ive been thinking about how its a bit of a meta with A Spook Who Sat By The Door references too; its the same principle from the book still working and being an option for some, for better (def not for better) or for worse, and Atlanta itself is one of the best examples of it. they had to get in under whatever premise to end up doing their own thing
