Idk man, the beats just didn’t match up to Benny’s verses imo

I would say that about the first 3 track section more if anything. Someone else said in here Sly Green was a waste of great verses n i somewhat agree, i think the album hits an amazing stride from track 4 on and then i have no complaints

this album is so good i don't even mind the skits. they don't drag down the album at all .

The skit at the end of War Paint had me in stitches

Same here. It reminded me of those Purple Haze skits

Yeah I thought the same bout Sky Green. But Benny’s verse makes me not even notice the beat lol

@marcusg I'm really surprised you don't f*** with New Streets like that. There's so much flavor and soul on that track. It left me misty eyed, man. My only gripe is that it's not longer.

Skits were weak to me. I get it, all inspired by early 2000's NY s***, with the exception of the bit from the State Property movie.

Even tho I have an affinity for the source material, I'd rather Benny be making his own trademark skits rather then regurgitating stuff that's been done, and done to better effect before

Plus, I didnt really think they added anything other then telling you we're in the early 00's, Rocafella era and the beats did a good enough job with that.

everything you said is true, but i grew up with rocafella s*** playing in my household, so it hit me a little different

This the sample for that song with Freddie. Haven't listened to the full album yet but I took a peep at this specific song and was surprised to hear one of my favorite samples I've flipped. Posting in case anyone here can submit it to WhoSampled, the sample is around past 0:30

What other producer + rapper combos would y’all want from Griselda

I think Conway x Muggs would be nuts if Muggs gets in his bag

Niggas need to stop bullshittin and hit up Sadhu for an EP or something!

I usually do that too lol but I couldnt' this time. There's something very nostalgic about these skits, even if it was just s*** talking lol

The verse is dope !! Like I said I love everything Benny does on this project, and how he’s more transparent than ever. But I guess I really just don’t fw Hit Boy’s production

the crazy part is that benny's verse isn't even the highlight of the song. it's the production and feeling of that sample. but i understand that it's all subjective.

Bro for real! Or get a fully produced Roc Marci project

    Or even Al Divino

Basically all my favorite songs are prod by Sadhu

Maybe I gotta rearrange s***... the skits also throw off the momentum imo

  • I know I’m in the minority with the criticism... I’m glad y’all are fw it and that Benny’s shining and reaching a wider audience who are gonna discover the genius of Griselda

Nas shouldve been on Over The Limit w Ty$ on the hook

@marcusg I'm not crazy about Over the Limit, but I think it's a nice palette cleanser tbh. I put it in the same class as Timeless, even though I'm not too crazy about that one either. But the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. I love the entire package.
