if music critics honestly did not matter and were not relevant whatsoever, he wouldn't have been able to make a career off of it. he stated many times his takes are simply his opinion. he has an audience so obviously it's relevant to some people.

this explains a lot about where her energy is coming from. she underperformed with this record, and is still defending it, because she's a victim of her own success. she should've had radio hit like songs on there, by her own admission there were none. she's a pop star. that's the only thing pop artists success is judged on. pop is short for popular.

E.g. if you are a person who doesn't enjoy SB2H, no amount of understanding where Cudi was at mentally will improve the listening experience for you

I loved the purple mountains album immensely (disliking this album is damn near blasphemous) but unfortunately I would not expect someone to give it added reverence/give the album more props based upon the subject matter/themes & the gutwrenching event that occurred after its release
But he specifically targeted the subject matter as an issue citing “main character syndrome”
I understand not liking the music despite the subject matter but he listed the subject matter as a factor to why he didn’t like it
And THAT subject matter specifically is one of the very few that isn’t something to so callously dismiss
