im so confused by the ending. Why dont the rehab people want Rue?

because the US health care system is f***ed up bro. not enough spots

that scene hit so close to home for me. I remember a couple years back when I was still in my late teens living with my mom and going through my own mental issues. I was basically Rue without the d**** - kicking doors in, crying 24/7 and threatening to kill myself. my mom tried so hard to find me a therapist because I needed one ASAP but there were none available and the doctors just put me on a 3-6 month wait list

We live in a society that emphasizes how important it is for people with mental issues and addiction to get help but it’s never emphasized exactly how hard it is to get help for these types of situations

Our system is screwed up and I’m so glad they touched on this. I sort of know what’s it like to be in Rue’s situation but I can only imagine how it feels to be a parent in a situation like this knowing there’s little you can do to help your child who is so much pain

Yes, what she doesn't realize is that it was finding his dad's tapes at the age of 8 is the thing that f***ed him up

It’s a very accurate representation of the healthcare system. More often than not unless you have money to spend you’re turned down for services. Related but unrelated a good example of this is healthcare considered as cosmetic. Getting dental work is hella expensive. Even if you pay for good insurance you still have to come out of pocket hefty. If you don’t have good insurance or you rely on something like Medicare/Medicade. You get such bare minimum services it’s laughable. Same thing goes to mental health when it comes to therapy, you get the absolute minimum if that. Rehab if you can’t pay money or have really good insurance is almost impossible to get into. Worthwhile rehab at least. People condem addicts for not getting help. Addicts try to receive help and are declined. Told to basically just detox and go to NA meetings which for most people isn’t enough. Rue is going through what so many addicts deal with and why they never recover. Zendaya is telling a very real story right now with this character. Every detail has been on par.

Kat and Ethan scene really triggered me because Kat is literally my ex i really dated a woman who was a max of Kat and Jules. Manipulative as hell. In love with being loved and not with the person

It does an amazing job of it. Especially when you see how Kat treats Ethan.

But also, when the cast is mostly centered around women. Outside of Nate and Cal’s bs we really aren’t seeing much from the male perspective. I mean Fez really just be chilling not much to drag him for besides selling d**** to teens lol

When they did the back story on Maddy and they showed mad niggas piping her. And her lying about being a virgin

Rue was like “she always came close but she never crossed the line…..well except that guy who was a DJ, and the other rich guy….and the guy who worked at the ice ring”

How does that make her not loyal? Just from that it's safe to say she wasn't in a relationship with anyone at the time.

It does but ppl try to act like toxic femininity isn’t a thing that’s why no one tweets about it. But you’ll sure hear about Nate’s toxic masculinity
