MarJules got homie twisted up right now
See, I don’t think the show would claim that Nate liking Jules makes him gay. The whole “is liking trans women gay” argument is valid imo, but I feel like the world set up in the show would sit firmly on the “no it isn’t” side of that debate. I don’t think Lexi would view that as making him gay, and I don’t think Jules would applaud the musical number at the end in that case.
The stuff @theoneandonly pointed out from S1 makes sense, but I think the only thing Lexi would know about was d*** pics, and would the rest of the school find it so hilarious if they didn’t even have that to go off of?

Why do we think Nate is gay? Did he ever actually do anything to make him appear to be closeted? Can’t recall him ever being attracted to a guy or doing anything with a guy but season 1 is a lil foggy for me
He’s not necessarily gay, but the show alludes to him struggling with same s***attraction due to how he was introduced to it through his dad’s s***. The s*** on his phone. Being on the gay app. Undertones with Tyler. That sus s*** he was saying/doing S2E1 to McKay at the party which tbh bordered on flirting. His difficulty getting it up when he was trying to f*** Maddy that one episode in season 1. Not wanting to look at junk to avoid being turned on. Etc.

Mr StingAnyone praising this episode gotta be a kid obsessed with the teen drama side of this show cause man there’s only an episode left and this season still feels like it’s setting everything up with how poor the storytelling has been. The great moments never get a follow up either it just happens then they move on smh. Only way it makes sense is if it ends on a cliffhanger which all the signs are pointing to cause there isn’t enough time to wrap every storyline in just one episode.
First half of the season focused way too much on Jules and Elliott and now it’s almost as if they don’t exist. Why waste so much screen time on something that unimportant just to not give it some closure? Also why is the lady who Maddie babysits for even a character? Rue is just sitting around after shooting up morphine? Don’t get me wrong I like this season way more than the first one but it’s just way too bloated, too many montages and not enough story. These storylines start strong then just fizzle out. Only one that hasn’t fizzled out is the worst one, the love triangle.
This is a respectable take. We can only see what will happen with the finale, but the fezco storyline should have an entertaining resolution to say the least.

the part of the play going after nate’s seemingly homoerotic relationship to his masculinity was dumb. sometimes this show is too over the top for its own good. nate never even gave those vibes and the take that young men’s obsession with male orientated activities means they’re probably gay is a lazy one

I don’t think it was about Nate giving those vibes, it’s more about Lexi’s personal feelings towards Nate informed by the gay rumors + what she knows through listening in on Maddy’s relationship talks and now Cassie. She just doesn’t like Nate and blew up the gay aspect as a diss/character assassination. It still was out of place and too long. That’s my explanation for it anyway.
