I have an idea for an app that does not have anything similar to it on the market and which in my opinion would be very high in demand but i have no real knowledge about the whole process of getting it all together.
Is there anyway i can "patent" the app, so that nobody steals the idea from me?
How much money do i need to get it developed? (iOS and Android, possibly web too)
Can i possibly get it funded as a startup?
any help will be kindly appreciated!
nobody is going to steal your idea from you, trust me.
theres no point wasting money on a non existent idea.
the amount of money you’ll need to hire developers all depends on the scope and context of the project. it can be as little as <$1K to $20K+
you’re way ahead of yourself considering whether or not it can get funding.
ideas dont get funded. well working prototypes/mvps do.
there are many sites where you can outsource the building of your app. upwork for example
look into building a working version of your idea and possibly even get a few clients if thats what the app entails, then consider shopping it around for funding
the best answer to your question tho is to honestly just google this stuff, “how to build an app” is probably the most answered query on the internet lol

This never goes well
You’re going to pay for it then it will go nowhere is the likely scenario
To be completely honest with you
More to it than having a “good idea”
What problem are you trying you solve?
Who's your audience?
What are their goals?
What's your budget?
What does success look like?
Do you know what scope creep is and why the design team and developers will hate you after you've done it 5 times?

Nah they won’t hate you, it just gets more expensive lol
Honestly they probably couldn’t care less as long as the check clears and it doesn’t change the general architecture

Nah that s*** can get out of control. I've had projects that were supposed to be a 8 weeks long that turned into year long projects.

It’s annoying but hey a check’s a check lol
I mean it is kind of the nature of being a for hire developer in the end

Yes you can patent an app, you’re going to need app devs. I assume you won’t have money to pay them, instead having them sign an NDA, telling them about it, and offering them a percentage of the company is your best bet.

I don’t want to be a pessimist, but if there’s nothing similar to it on the market it’s probably a niche/useless/not profitable
if you have to ask this, you should just give up and have no shot

nah
the same could've been said about uber for example too

Uber was also created 11 years ago and there was something similar to it on the market - taxis. Go hustle on a different business, there’s a lot of businesses you can start. Save your time, money, and you’ll most likely make more money too.

thats the same case with the app i have in mind
the service is on the market, just not available on any apps

this minus the last question lol. you gotta find product market fit
no
you can literally use No Code to build your own working MVP these days
bubble, webflow, carrd, thunkable
the fact that you can't google this stuff shows you're NEVER going to make it
don't be the "ideas guy" because i meet those every day

I've been abused
Damn OP don't listen to these people tryna discourage you. If you believe in the idea do all you can to see where it could go.
I'm in a similar situation but I'm waiting on a patent for the app idea to get approved. I'm mostly wasting that time and money because after that I plan to approach my old boss with the idea since she's in the relevant industry, and I'm gonna try to partner with her/the broader company so they can handle the actual app development.
I wish I had real advice for you, but I just wanted to chime in since some of these posts ITT are telling you not to bother even when they don't know wtf your idea is. Good luck
