the only time I worked a waiting job s*** was pretty lit. Was getting paid 13$ an hour on top of like 80-150$ tip a day.
whenever I hear stories of ppl getting paid like 2$ an hour I’m like where the f*** they do that. Y’all need to work at a better restaurant then lol.
That sounds like a great restaurant, most aren't like that.
There's two scenarios here that people fall into:
Either you're going out to a nice restaurant and in that case you should have the money ready to tip well for the great evening you're enjoying
or
You're going to a s***ty restaurant where the servers make 2.50 an hour and the food is garbage. In that case you should be tipping because these people's jobs suck. No one forced you to go to a terrible chain restaurant where all they do is heat up frozen chicken and serve s***ty pasta.
Also I'm not talking to you specifically here I'm just quoting your post, you seem like someone who would tip and be sensible and kind.
Maybe, but I don't think so, I tend to get along with a fair bit of people, I try not to judge.
Im glad you have found a good social circle for yourself
I have. I feel like we could probably be friends you sound a lot like me.
No but i actually like the tip jar idea on twitter cause it makes it easier for people doing crowdfunding so its good on that end of things and we've seen a huge increase in crowndfunding over the past year so gotta respect twitter a bit for that response i guess
When my boy was 19 and broke we always had to convince him to leave like 1-2$ and he would always rant about tipping and bullshit.
Few years later he got a good job and he don’t got a problem doing it anymore.
Some people are a******s and some people just don’t got it like that...
i think what really happened is he grew up lol
Only time I tipped poorly in my life was $9 on a $97 tab at a nice ass Sushi restaurant and I felt really bad about it afterwards and never did it again.
Everyone has tipped bad in their life, especially when they were young and dumb as bricks (a lot of people on this site for example).
can't forget about your weekly "is social media ruining (blank)?"
Better check your facts, those aren't consistent like they used to be
even I'm slacking
i think what really happened is he grew up lol
lol nah he didn’t, he’s still an idiot. But he’s making more then 170$ a week now lmao

Yeah I mean that’s a factor too. If I was making $100K a year I probably would give less of a f*** because money would mean less to me.
you should tip if it's waiter or food driver
they aren't paid fully by their employers who are able to exist/are profitable only because they screw over their employees to reduce cost (it's literally a cornerstone of their business model)
if their business was ethnical the cost would be burdened on you anyway; if you don't like to tip you better not ever complain about businesses screwing people.
you're basically a part of the problem/only care about your sandwich
mind you I'm a capitalist and saying this
My former roomate in colllege was like "nah i never tip, fuck them" and dude would order in when its midnight and theres heavy ass snow

I do think maturity and budget play a big part.

They dont need to raise food costs, they need to just stop having the profits shared unevenly
lol what. restaurant have small margins its way more to it than what you said.
this tipping system is stupid and youre a d*** if you dont tip
dont hate the player hate the game
Most people around me agree with me. But most of friends are people you would probably consider a******s.
💀💀
It is what it is.
You tip or you don't. I'm not in the mood to argue with Americans willingly cucking themselves into a charity based wage that allows customers to discriminate against servers because they're too silly to just raise the federal minimum to 15 an hour.
And yeah no, tipped employees are paid at the least, the federal minimum wage. Its illegal otherwise
America needs unions but this country and its populace is garbage so its w.e
Wowwww I’ll check that out. I’m getting out of the military and going to college pretty soon so I’ll see what this is about
It’s great man the staff benefits are fire you can travel to anywhere in the world for like $80 depending on who you end up working with
Well until the day y'all anti tippers make it so that servers and restaurant workers in general get paid "fairly" by their employers, please just tip. Please.
I tip all the time for good service. but lets not act like waiters will only make $2 an hour if you dont tip
It is what it is.

It could be as simple as not using those services from companies which don't pay full wages
you don't need a union, but yeah the populace is ignorant
Americans are used to eating out so they probably won't give this up; private business subsidizes their eating habit while the worker gets pegged
lol what. restaurant have small margins its way more to it than what you said.
F*** the restaurants. If you can't afford to pay workers a livable wage u shouldnt be in service.

I feel like anyone who’s worked in restaurants will tip at other restaurants cause we know how s***ty customers can be lol.
i usually tip good. If I’m somewhere nice I’ll tip nice
If it’s like my barber or some s*** I tip like 20
How much are your haircuts if you tipping $20? You tipping 100%?
this tipping system is stupid and youre a d*** if you dont tip

True to a point, but there's also another way of looking at it.
In Europe servers make good money, but the service is trash. That's fine, I don't need a server to be fawning over me to feel special. When I was there it was understood you just tip your change and everyone is happy.
In America it's different. If you can only afford to go to garbage restaurants you should tip in solidarity with the servers who can only find these bad jobs.
The plus side is serving CAN be a great job, if you gain experience and get in at a great restaurant you can make a good living....off of tips from people who have the money and aren't cheap about it.
