Last week almost 50% of the music on Spotify's Global 50 top streaming songs were from before 2024
it begs the question - does anyone care about new music anymore?
Is new music bad? Is the recorded music world going the way of books, where there's just such a giant backlog and a list of established "classics" that what's coming out in the modern world isn't as important?
Is this even a problem or do we just need to adjust our expectations for new music?
spotify needs to fix the shuffle algorithm then all will be right
They play too much old music for you? I left spotify last year so idk what the vibes are

why are letting some corporation tell you what to listen to lol
I’d say a good 15 - 20% is music from the past two years, and of that figure, it being music from new artists would be even lower
I fell off pretty hard with being intentional and discovering new music / artists a whileeee ago
Not much lmao I listen to a lot of new s*** don't get me wrong but I be on the classics like a og
Man I went back to te$ting again tho. Album is so fire.
To answer your question a large majority sans Drake’s new drops. Honestly it’s hard to keep newer music on repeat due to various factors such as quality, interest, time etc. It’s a lot easier to go back to what you know and like versus spending the time to live with something new especially as you get older and have less “free time”. I do try to check out new drops as I can just so I can somewhat stay in the loop
Depends on the year but right now like 90%
3 Drake albums, Lucki, Veeze, Fakemink are in rotation currently
Whenever the music landscape is dry, I usually take it as an opportunity to check out older discographies I haven't gotten into yet
Monica is the only thing from the past couple years that has really spoke to me. But boy is it happenin. Crack open a couple cold ones and put it on the stereo every day since it came out.
64% of these are from 2024 and on
but I will say that I don’t expect to listen to many albums from 2026 in 2027 and so on
Outside of listening to my own music id guess 60-70%
I dont listen to albums tho i jus pick my favorite songs from here and there

yeah g. Feel like it plays none of my new s***
why are letting some corporation tell you what to listen to lol
i have 5 playlists each with over 2k songs. How do you suggest I effectively host and shuffle my music if not for a streaming service like Spotify?
It's spotify's algorithm that largely determines what songs I've taken from albums that play, unless I listen to an album front to back.
