In album ratings people often use the term "this has no skips". But what exactly does it mean to you, if a song is a skip?
My personal definition is, that I will skip the song every time I play an album, which means I don't like it at all. But this way pretty much all albums of my favorite artists don't have skips.
How is it for you guys?
Do I skip the song
same definition as you. Basically every song is fire and none of it is either low quality or out of place enough that I would skip it when I play tha album. It’s all engaging
While on the subject, Mamacita is not a skip on Aquemini. It's the only good song actually
ive stockholm syndromed myself into not skipping anything on albums i like, even though i think there are probably only 5 maybe 10 albums in the world where every track is good enough to actually qualify as having no skips
im talking about traditional album format music here ofc, stuff that's 8 to 20-something tracks
there are plenty of jazz or classical albums that are 2 or 4 tracks with 'no skips' but it's not fair to compare them
also there are 1000s of other albums which have 'no skips', but not because all the tracks on the album are actually good. like concept albums (even in the loosest reddit music critic sens, meaning albums with some kind of consistent idea) or albums that are greater than the sum of their parts

you were cooking until that last sentence. no way you heard da art of storytelling pt 1 and was like “yeah this mid”
Truthfully it’s not a vacuum type opinion for me. Most times I’ll let an entire album ride. If I’m listening to my library on shuffle (most typically as I do) I’ll skip s*** sometimes and sometimes I’ll listen to it. It’s not really this deal breaking thing to me in the context of an album even if it’s not my favorite song per say
Auntie Diaries is a good example. Is it a bad song? No. But the song just isn't engaging enough to keep listening to it on repeat

Always felt Part 2 was stronger but only by a hair. Really hard to choose

Yeah it's similar for me. Also depends on certain circumstances. Do I have time to listen to the whole album? Sometimes I'm not in the mood for certain type of songs and skip them, even though they are great

fair they both elite. aquemini one of the few albums i personally think has no skips
I don’t skip songs when listening to albums.
Can’t think of the last time I’ve done that.
If I think about it most projects of my favorit artists have zero true skips. Doesn't mean all songs are 10/10 though. But if you strap me to a chair and force me to listen to all Majid Jordan projects for example, there would be no song, where I say "please turn this Off"
