my mom has a bipolar disorder and its been like 12 years without a crisis. 2 weeks ago she started with problems to sleep so me and my sister worried, results to be in a very delicate status. I live with her and im freelance so I have the time to take care. Its been like 10 days and its very demanding, she can’t be alone. Shes getting better and thats really good. Im 29 and she’s 70. Just venting here and looking if I find a similar story. Love yall KTT fam. ☮️

I have a loved one with bipolar but they aren’t as old as your mom, so it was easier for me to kind of let them know “im here to help you, but you its not right to depend on me all the time. I will always help, but you do need to find a doctor and a therapist to talk to, they will help you far greater than I can”

Basically people need to put in their own work with mental health. It’s best for them and you

But with the age being a bit older, I understand it’s a lot harder to do that for you

Hopefully, you can help her find the help she needs while you also help her out and take care of her, but with the goal of her eventually becoming self dependent

I know it’s hard. I’ve been there. But you all will get through this. Good luck!

ty pancake , last crisis of my mom was like 12 years ago so now we are taking care of her to prevent her from being hospitalized. At this moment, she can’t be by herself bc of her symptoms, so I have to look after her, sometimes my sister replaces me so I can go out. Its a process but im tryna enjoy it as much as incan having more time with my mom. Cant even go to gym so im doing it @ home. Feels like COVID.

You are a good son for using your best years to ensure she is well taken care of in her last years. I got family and all the girls i dated had BPD so pretty different, but i understand your concern for their well being and wish you the best

  • You're awesome bro, shoutout to you @op

  • Sep 17, 2025

You’re a great person OP. I recognize it’s not easy. I was taking care of my dad for a bit due to him having dementia. Just know that your mom appreciates you sincerely

I know strangers on the internet probably don't mean much but what you're doing is the best possible thing you could be doing right now and you should be blessed to be able to live with No regret that you weren't able to do more

  • Sep 17, 2025

i feel for you @op. my grandma doesn't have bpd but she took the passing of my mom really hard on top of her being unemployed and getting older. been having to take care of her for the most part with bills.

hang in there you're doing the best you can

S*** man I feel you… scariest moment for me was when my aunt and I were in the house chillin, relaxed for a slight moment, then my aunt yells out “oh my god she left the house!” And I had to run out and hopefully pick a correct direction where my mom could’ve gone, and I found her almost a block away from the crib in the direction I chose. Is your mother on medication or perhaps stopped taking her medication?

  • U are a real man! And hero!

Same here with my dad, hrs been handicapped almost his whole laugh(failed anaesthetics during operation) and since last year it's taken a real toll on him
Has been laying upstairs now unable to really move and he's really old too

Still go talk with him every night, about his life, culture etc and help him in the wheelchair once in a while to get some body movement going

Like u did man, I could never let my parents struggle, I want to be there for them, cause when it's too late, it's too late and I've heard it so many times how people feel bad about that, I never want to feel that
