op lowkey on to something. streaming can be a curse sometimes. i’m an album person through and through but even at times i find myself having to take a break from music because i can’t concentrate, or be too invested in trying to find new music and artists. instant gratification ruining our generation... it’s a bit of a vicious cycle sometimes

I feel like you need one to appreciate slower/more subtle elements if the music is more focused on that

If only music, like literature had, multiple ways to consume it.

Hopefully in the future we can simply feel it.

The worst part is we use our phones to listen to music: the worst source of instant gratification.

I think this is why I still use my iPod.

    Hollywood-backed. S*** is different now.

Reminds me a lot of Le Cinéma Club: free, short arthouse films every week.

No matter your taste, a disruption service is catering to our short attention spans.

OP already has the sexual stamina from 2030

2 minutes is the new number so maybe s***

But that might just b a temporary trend or supposedly a way to get extra stream money

My general advice: if you’re struggling to read a book, change the book. Change the author. Change the genre. Try not to read page to page or chapter to chapter; instead dedicate time to reading (“I’ll read for 1 hour today”). Take regular breaks.

Genuinely enjoy what you’re reading and don’t force investment.

    What are you currently reading?

That’s a good question, and I would love somehow who works in screenwriting’s opinion on it. I suppose those who write may find a 30 minute block overwhelming; now they don’t have to write for length.

fam, even like 3 years ago I could sit and read uninterrupted. but now if I hit a slow chapter or sumn my brain just starts looking for other sources of stimulation - I gotta cut this out fr it can only get worse too

Do you have an attention (ADHD, ADD) or learning (dyslexia) disorder? May be the reason.

  • Mar 1, 2020

Generally I wouldn’t advise reading to improve your attention span if you generally do not like reading. That’s counterintuitive.

    Try a graphic novel, too.

Time length on it's own doesn't matter

It's a combination of content, the number of tracks and length

An album can be 80 minutes long as long as it's for a reason

True but then again. If the musics great yea it don’t matter. I was speaking more from a artist perspective tho. I would want to make my project around 40min mark

A lot is at factor: their upbringing (importance of reading in their household and presence of books in their homes), their education (both access to education and style of education) and their gender (society has disenfranchised men from the revelry of books, in my opinion). And of course not to mention technology and the current culture of consumption.

Additionally, I was taught to skim read in school, how to read a whole sentence whole not the individual words. Best lesson I was taught, to be honest.

No they won’t. Most hit songs rn have 2 verses and run 2:30+.

You just go with this weirdo oldhead narrative that everything is so bad
