Genuinely it’s been nothing but harmful esp cuz most who talk about it don’t even know anything about the industry or how it works and it’s usually someone that’s not tapped in blaming something else instead of just seeing something blow up and being like oh I should check it out

Why the f*** are we hyperfixating on purity testing how “authentic” someone’s come up is dawg

Esp cuz mans want new artists that make good music so just ENJOY AND CELEBRATE those artists and check out and get ur thoughts negative or otherwise on new music without it having to be some force outside urself to judge it by

Not only does this lowkey hurt new artists it comes up every single time one makes rounds and new artists have to be on some delicate tightrope to not take advantage of certain opportunities lest they be perceived like Doechii lol

Like dawg you are music listeners you are engaging with art simply engage with the art why be an A&R trying to measure some arbitrary kinda impossible to perceive level of “organic authentic come up” half of the industry plant allegations go to the most f***ing organic come ups in the entire genre

that term has lost all meaning. people throw that s*** around to rationalize why an artist they've never heard of is suddenly blowing up.

Same people obsessed with complaining about the lack of superstars will immediately write off any artist interacting with major labels the same way their favorites did

Reminder that plants genuinely don't exist

  • I dont think its too much to ask for labels not to fabricate reality to sell us a potential career

if anything, we don’t talk about industry plants enough

we wouldn’t have Travis Scott & Drake reaching their respective levels of popularity if people shat on them for being plants more a decade-2 ago
