Rap dead.
R&B/Soul a different story
if u cant find something you like in this era... you not looking hard enough
I see this quote or something along those lines at least once a month on here
We’ve been in a transitional era since 2019. In this case from streaming to TikTok. Could be a far worse era
but I don’t see how someone could say we are in a great era either.
ringtone era/jerkin era was so fun as a kid need more people like tisakorean to revive the vibes
Jerking was trending on social media again a while ago
15-18 were nonstop great albums
2019 was the only real year without a hitter
15-18 >>> 19-present
easily
The mid 00s and late 10s are neck to neck for. Worst eras. Idk about the 20s but I hope for better things.
So it’s between 2005-2009 and 2015–2019
(And I’m not saying good things didn’t come out of these years, it just wasn’t the best eras)
So, which albums in the last 5 years are better than Documentary, TM101, Late Registration, Fishscale, Carter 3, King, Food & Liquor, 808's and Heartbreak, Man On The Moon, Relapse, and American Gangster?
What classic rap albums in the past 5 years are superior to those?

It’s crazy you’re not allowed to have a different opinion on this site

these are best two eras 2005-2009 and 2014–2018

It's just a debate fam. It ain't that serious.
It was a genuine question too cause that's usually how I determine eras: By the number of classic/high quality albums.
Edit: I see you might be taking it the wrong way so you don't have to answer.

Once again, this was my opinion. MINE!
2010-2015 was a really good time looking back objectively. 2011-2012 particularly. I’d put that era over both 2005-2009 and 2015-2019
CLB was album of the year for 2021
maybe if you listen to like two artists lol
yes. nobody dropping classics and everything sounds like it’s all made by the same person. no originality going on rn save for a few
Why bro just put “Yeat.” in the middle of his paragraph like that?
You know the post is certainly top quality, but in actuality it would be good if you could understa
Yeat.
If I’m being real UK rap scene been better than US in the past few years.
M1llionz a prodigy no recent US artist could hold a candle to him as far as talent/creativity/innovation goes.
High quality, flow of the century and no one sounds like him
They not ready for this conversation.
Santan Dave better then any American rapper that debut in the last 7 years.
I blame the big 3
Drake plateauing creatively one of the most disappointing things of the decade so far, was looking him to carry the first few years of the 20s with some late career classics like Hov did with Blueprint and Black Album in the early 00s. Instead we got CLB which wasn’t terrible but it was definitely disappointment.
Kendrick disappearing was also a big L for the 2020s. He pretty much set the bar for quality in the 10’s so without him it feel like the game in disarray, way less quality control. Cole working and he been spitting but he plateaud creatively too tbh. Doesn’t seem like he’s ever going to make any major leaps forward.
They left the game to kids
and this generation of kids while talented just doesn’t give af nearly as much as previous generations did
The big three gave these kids enough material from 2010-2015 for them to mull over.
Drake, Kendrick and Cole can’t help it if this generation just can’t cut the mustard.
We in a filler era rn. I wonder what would rap look like now if the pandemic never happened.
