If they airdrop onto Kharg Island it’ll be a turkey shoot. That’s insane

    Is 3000 even enough?

Image being the first 25 jumping out the plane you basically a meat shield.

    And for what?

5,000 marines were also deployed and are expected to arrive Friday. The speculation is that the US will try to take over Kharg Island, but there could be other objectives. From the WSJ article that was posted:

"A decision to put boots on the ground in Iran hasn’t been made, officials cautioned. But the movement of the 82nd opens the door for President Trump to try to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by force, seize Iran’s strategic islands or coastline or launch a mission to capture the regime’s highly enriched uranium should he choose to do so."

Iran's economy is largely dependent on oil and roughly 90% of their oil exports flow through Kharg Island.

They don't want to destroy the oil infrastructure because that would be very costly to the rest of the world. They want to control it and use it as leverage against Iran. The US already bombed it and Trump said he purposely left the oil infrastructure intact.

They won’t be able to control it with just 5000 marines and paratrooper unit. They are going to occupy it, and eventually get defeated militarily and retreat.

At the moment , we have enough ammunition for a month of all out war that’s it.

China has a rare earth ban on the United States so we cannot manufacture our weapons back into stock.

After everything is said and done , we’re going to burn through tax dollars, peoples lives , and probably end up in new levels of international isolation that will permanently destroy the dollar.

Yeah i guess but i still dont really see why that necessitates actual troops on the ground there. They will force workers to operate the factories??

Wont the US also be at a disadvantage even if they take control over the island? They are right next to land right there where IRan could get to em. stupid decision by trump but i expect nothing less

How have they fallen for it? They’ve repeatedly been defiant and have stated they will decide when the war stops every time this happens
