From an Israeli perspective I can see a temporary ceasefire making sense

They’ve already got a significant win in southern Lebanon. Their conditions for a ceasefire insist on Lebanon being a cuck state moving forward. The IDF is already dealing with tons of personnel issues and over 100 (?) casualties from the current operation.

If a ceasefire happens, they don’t need to continue with the invasion. Instead they fall back to destroying homes and land along the border and air strikes up to the Litani

But I’d assume this is something the IRGC are factoring in with negotiations

The way I see it, destroying Bint Jbeil is a major symbolic win for them. From what I’ve seen, Israelis never got over the Nasrallah spiderweb speech and the 2006 battle was one of the biggest failures in their modern history.

They’ve also made the Lebanese army look even more like a joke. There’s a couple clips from a couple weeks ago where army tanks were retreating to make way for the IDF and they were getting shouted at and spit on by civilians. Israel’s ceasefire conditions would basically convert the army in the north into another brigade

And I know there’s been sextarian beef forever, but with how they collaborated with Christian villages to target Shiite muslims, and targeted certain regions above the Litani under the guise of targeting Hezbollah, they’ve inflamed internal conflict even further

I don’t think the operation as a whole was successful, since Israel didn’t achieve any of their major goals. But those factors above are why I think they had a significant W going into a “temporary ceasefire”
