Kanye has so many good ideas but he has no idea how to convey them to people.

    hey man relax

    this is dumb

why does a tweet have to “accomplish” something

all ye is doing rn is using twitter as a means to establish conversation with certain people he feels he should talk to, so if for some reason you need to derive some form of accomplishment from this, it’s that

its more that this stuff feels like hes just throwing s*** out into the public eye for no reason
tweets like that make it feel like its more for promo than it is for him actually trying to make a change

I know its kanye and he does s*** like this but I wish I had seen him doing this stuff before he turned it into a twitter fiasco. people dont take his rants seriously because he does weird (funny but weird) tweets like that in the middle of it

Absolutely nothing he’s saying is negative

You’re just a p**** at the end of the day

    holy f*** youre annoying

do you ever get off Kanyes d***? because if the last two years haven't given you enough reason to question the sht he says then what will?

    yes it is

this isnt about kanye's masters this is about all artists rights and contracts and how they're being used as chess pieces by the people at the top

first it was frank, now it's kanye, and once kanye does it the door will open for many more

They've been doing business like this for decades.

There's no incentive to topple an 8 billion dollar a year asset because of Kanye. Only hope is that newer artists don't take these deals anymore.

did you ever think that maybe there is a reason why he is doing this? airing this business out publicly?

I promise you these people do not want to take a call with kanye west. But what they want even LESS is to go on twitter and see all of this

Maybe, but that shouldn’t be something to chastise people for especially if they’ve been conditioned to think a certain way. That line of thought just further separates us and kills communication

So would it be possible to still sign to a streaming service or will they essential be blocked by label connections

I think any attempt by streaming service to start signing artists would result in HARD pressure from labels to cease doing so

and right now labels have the power in that dynamic

in 5 years time though when independence is even more possible/common and streaming services have more market share sewn up? definitely a possibility

a text he posted said $300m

Forbes said his music and GOOD are worth $90m+

If it's 300M then I get why he's doing this because they'll never give it back.

music industry quickly moving the way of masters ownership
most big artists own or are in/have had negotiations to own their masters

the biggest thing is new artists being aware of what that means and why its important
labels just offer a fat advance and quietly take away the ownership

At the end of the day its a business
And artists with 0 leverage have no choice but to take that advance and give up ownership and just accept the standard royalties
