Losing your life partner seems as good an inspiration to create an introspective album as any

Sure but would he still be rapping about his art pieces if he never got caught?

What’s wrong with trying to promote financial literacy?

Nothing wrong with it but acting like you just gave a million dollars worth of game for 9.99 is the hilarious part of it

    Twerk, twerk, Miley, Miley, twerk.

Drake stans taking this as a sneak diss to Drake

At that point they’re admitting they think Drake is too old to be making the music he makes.

  • Apr 29

Jay-Z was 44 when he made Magna Carta Holy Grail, chasing every trend around remember "Crown"? A 44-year-old telling a 20-year-old Miley Cyrus to "keep twerking"... yikes.

Totally transparent, the only reason he’s taking this position is because he’s cringing at the music he put out while chasing trends in his 40s, It all aged terribly. A 40-year-old rapping about "Swagga Like Us," lol.

The difference between him and Drake, Ye, and Future is that they can be older and still actually make music that connects with younger people. He failed at it, finally settled into "act your age" rap for 4:44, and is now trying to rewrite what happened.

He tried to do it too, and he failed. Simple as that.

  • BonelessWings

I think the question is redundant and doesn't make 4:44 any less authentic. People often make changes when faced with the consequences of their actions - that's human nature

Ye makes music that appeals to the youth but he never made young music. There's a difference

so how did Hov make young music then?

Literally all over it I’m not about to put in all those lyrics man

  • I think Jay Z would benefit from sitting down with someone people are familiar with and having a down to earth interview for a change. Like the tone and how polished these interviews are just open him up to be picked apart. lol. Especially because he is never heard from.

Every interview comes off as a state of the union address. He doesn’t even need to be humble. Just talk your s*** and make jokes.

  • Hot take but, aside from the Ty Dolla albums, Ye doesn't strike me as a rapper who fits this category.

Ye, KSG, JIK, Donda, and Bully dont really seem to have youth driven themes at all. The production sounds contemporary but the content sounds grown.

Thats another thing too. A lot of rap fans conflate boom bap or soul samples with mature themes and contemporary sounding production for shallow themes. Crank Lucas even made a whole video about this a decade ago when he was rapping conscious over a trap beat flowing like Future.

You know that’s a reference to the intro of his song from 2001, where he says the same thing. Do you listen to music or just skim thru it
