I don't really have a dog in this fight but it interests me how people very into silent film online usually have right-wing politics, maybe you don't and I'm assuming, but in my experience people of the Griffith/Eisenstein/Stroheim persuasion usually have a very 'retvrn to tradition' outlook on life

If I was to guess it'd be because the idea of the silent era as forming an unsurpassed canon of kino was fostered online largely on /tv/, and seeing cinema as a lost Eden, ruined irreparably by sound, can lead to seeing modernity as a disease in and of itself

i don’t think desantis beating trump in the primary if they both run. Also don’t think trump can win a national election at this point, his approval rating went down like 8% after 1/6

I wouldn’t argue that but I also don’t think Trump will actually run again. But who knows.

Silent films are the experiment of cinema whether from editing theory to storytelling. Yet comedies like Keaton and Chaplin are more I'd say "digestible" than sinking 3 hours on history of intolerance throughout the ages. History tell us that the arrival of sound push people off in many ways and some stars can't deal with the advent of new technology. Like as mentioned above, Keaton didn't adapt in to the talkies. I'm for "return to tradition" of cinema because of how thought provoking it is and how reflective on humanity. I agree with the director, Jean-Luc Godard saying "Film begins with DW Griffith and ends with Abbas Kiarostami." As action movies are more prevalent until Marvel came along. Although there's experimental film are largely silent in ways that "experiment" on new techniques which follows from the silent-era. Stan Brakhage and Michael Snow are lioned in the genre though. However, I don't think politics such as right-wing liked silent films and viewed sound films as a disease which I disagree with. There is art exists with in the sound. As the wikipedia scholar above me thinks I'm a right wing. He is wrong. I'm more of a centrist myself and disliking the left (Breadtubers, weirdos, ktt historians, Hasan, etc) and the right at least with DDees or Turning Point style content.

Edit: as with 4chan, idk i don't go there or some general called "/film/". It's largely upon myself and my cinematic journey. There's another user who most likely logs on 4chan lmao.

The Communist Party of China (CPC),23 commonly known as the Chinese Communist Party (CCP),24 is the founding and sole governing political party of the People's Republic of China (PRC). The CCP leads eight other legally permitted subordinate minor parties together as the United Front. The CCP was founded in 1921, mainly by Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao, with the help of the Far Eastern Bureau of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and Far Eastern Secretariat of the Communist International.25 The party grew quickly, and by 1949 it had driven the Kuomintang (KMT)'s Nationalist Government from mainland China to Taiwan after the Chinese Civil War, leading to the establishment of the People's Republic of China on 1 October 1949. It controls the country's armed forces, the People's Liberation Army (PLA). It is also one of the two major historical contemporary parties in Chinese history, the other being the Kuomintang.
