I think it's more so it sounds different. If you can post ALC songs that all don't sound dusty or have a obvious sample loop in it go for it. I f*** with both artist but Peggy is right about ALC. Peggy also isn't a great rapper (has said it himself) and takes chances with production. ALC does kinda play it safe tbh this is coming from someone who has a few of his vinyls too.

Sounding “dusty” and having a sample loop are foundations of the genre. A beat can contain both those elements and still be unique/pushing the genre forward. In fact I can post multiple beats from JPEG himself that contain both those things

JPEG and his fans seem to think evolution = adding distorted electronic elements to hip hop. All of the things he does in his production have been done before and done better. Death Grips, Shabazz Palaces and Clipping. are the real innovators in this sound for the 2010s and up. I’d even say Yeezus did it significantly better than JPEG without being as raw

Also the comments he made about Alc don’t just apply to Alc. They apply to a lot of legendary producers and legendary beats that JPEG will never come close to touching legacy wise. He’s mad about it and lashing out

Hmm generic fans would think that about evolving the genre. I say adding elements from other genres would be the better word choice. Because a lot of great samples come from other genres. Incorporating some of their techniques production wise would help push a different genre.

Saying all Alc does is loop dusty samples is also kinda just downplaying him. His style and sound has had major evolution since he started. He’s also the guy that helped pioneer the whole underground sound we hear today

JPEG also basically does the exact same thing. 99% of his beats are samples and loops, He just samples old Nintendo commercials instead of 70s prog rock albums

Also here’s an Alc beat with no samples and it’s amazing. He also made an entire project of ambient synths pieces that could all easily be flipped into some heat

Like I said, I like some of his production but his fans have clearly gassed his ego into some Kanye s***. Him saying “I’m the goat of experimental hip hop” is a wild ass statement and I’m glad even some of his fans seem to be calling him out now
