Movie reminded of that Jay Z line "I arrived on the day Fred Hampton died, Real niggas just multiply" and then I remember his birthday really is Dec, 4, 1969

How f\*\*\*ed up would it be if they played Murder to Excellence at the end lol

Great movie. Man I would've just taken the 5 years at a certain point though.

I'm a little confused about who the guy that gave him the poison was. Is that just some nigga working for the feds?

  • Feb 13, 2021

thought it was great, particularly the performances.

Not really my thing. The filmmaking style was just sorta bland, a means to an end, imo. Worth a watch tho, actors do well w what they’ve got + the score is great. Nice that it’s a launching pad for discussion/learning.

& unrelated, but some of the more rousing scenes reminded me of the experience of watching Spike’s Malcolm X.

This generation of actors and actresses just don’t have it to me. They don’t convey enough emotion and realness like the generation before them like Denzel, Viola, etc.

He’s a not a believable actor to me. Bruh was the weakest link in FNL and he’s become the biggest actor off of it besides MBJ smh

Movie makes me equally angry and sad thinking about how things could've been different

I don't think it has anything to do with the actors

Hollywood movies back then were just a lot more nuanced

It feels more like actors are trying to preach a message to us nowadays rather than to genuinely capture someone's essence. That is a product of trash corporate politics in Hollywood that wants blatant liberal agenda writing in their products

Denzel hasn't really been great in any roles lately either. It's just simply that the standards for writing characters have changed.

I just finished the movie. Great way to portray emotion, and the message of unity just rings true. Kind of ironic how I watched the Dave Chappelle joint this morning before watching this and it drives the message home anymore. 30 minutes of “injustice” for them and they storm DC but you see how African Americans have dealt with true injustice for 300 plus years now. So sombering

Yeah I'd say their on screen presence isn't big enough or captivating enough compared to the previous generation
