Some national outlets have turned away from speeches of his that he made last year and did not cover them. There was not any backlash against that. Mind you, these speeches were made form the White House and things like that because he was clearly peddling lies in them.

Because twitter operates as a de facto press media company and gladly positions themselves as such when it’s beneficial to their bottom line. They thrive on providing people up-to-the-second information from sources that they verify themselves.
It’s really a matter of when, not if, they face further regulation.
