i mean i agree, i'm not saying he should be able to run all free on twitter and say whatever he wants. i do think he should be able to post important updates at the very least. suspend everything else, ban him when his presidency is done

also, its not dumb, twitter allows for real time information
even if only 10% of americans use twitter
those tweets, communicated in real time, can then be used by news and media outlets to spread the information
the alternative is the white house announcing a press conference, delaying the time from an hour so everyone can try and tune in, then have the news outlets summarize and post about it
twitter is way more effective
i agree that politicians can use twitter to send out info when needed, but it isn't neccesary. he can just call a press conference if he wanted to
and trump literally has a whole second account to post important info on twitter if he wanted to

ASAKII agree with that. It took them ages to ban David Duke from Twitter after intense amounts of backlash, and they still allow certain figures free reign on the site, simply because it allows them traffic to be generated.
The reality is that they're still in a social media company mindset when, in reality, they've become something bigger than themselves and more uncontrollable.
I agree completely.
I guess what bothers me mostly is how much they lean into that aspect of it. If they were really just an open social media platform, that’s one thing, but the entire sense of officiality and veritability of receiving news straight from the source is like their top selling point.
