With the 6 year anniversary of the death of Chicago rapper King Von upcoming in November I wanted to see how you guys feel about his music and legacy after all these year? Do you feel like he’s had staying power despite his passing? Did his music age well or not? And do you feel like he’s still been able to influence hiphop and the culture after his passing?
As someone who did listen to him a bit while he was alive I’ll say that although I don’t find any of his work “bad” looking at it now that im older a lot of his stuff comes off as almost cartoonish in a way to appeal to non black audiences and kids. Not to say he was a studio gangster or something but a lot of his stuff sounds like it was specifically made with white teens and little kids in mind despite the subject matter.
I was a big fan of his music basically followed his entire career
But I am genuinely shocked at how much of a cultural phenomenon he’s become
Also yes he is influential. He is very influential
Ill be watching a rapper do an interview and can tell hes tryna come off like King Von

Despite the criticisms I made this s*** is STILL in rotation TO THIS DAY

Would you say positive or negative? Also if you have time please post some of these interviews so I can see what you’re talking about.

100% negative lol
And the best example is how Yungeen Ace was acting after Foolio’s death it was so obvious he was trying to recreate Von’s interview with Akademiks after Duck died
Lil Jeff interviews too
100% negative lol

I’m glad you brought up that lil jeff nigga lol, lil dude was imitate Von with the whole “grim reaper, I got x amount of bodies” s*** and ended up meeting the same fate as Von
I was not a fan of his music (truthfully I think it kinda sucks) but ultimately his legacy is being a serial killer basically lol like idk if theres really any other way to cut it
it was pretty wild seeing huge ass billboards of him in Chicago a couple years back lol. Like
That’s a whole ass serial killer
But I like a few of his songs but the sort of 2nd wave Chicago drill stuff just never did much for me in general. Just doesn’t have the same level of creativity and charisma that Keef and people like SD and them had coming up when it was first popping
by “his legacy” u mean him being a psycho?
Partially yea but I also meant in terms of his music
i didnt like his music at all, it wasnt bad, i was just over drill atp and still am. he had some bangers tho

1. yea his s*** was just over the top with the ignorant s*** 2. I feel like I haven't seen you post on here in forever or am I tripping
im ngl king von music was really good
like almost every single song he ever made was good type s***
a lot better than atlanta rappers imo
Never listened. Didn’t really like his music like that
Back Again or whatever it was was cool tho.
I think it all could have been prevented tho
100% negative lol

out of all the drill rappers that was really living their raps he was the by far the best one. had a lil unique flow and cadence and could do storytelling which set him apart from pretty much the whole subgenre. overall his impact was negative though because you got lil ass kids idolizing a whole serial killer and niggas that are complete garbage getting a buzz just because they got a couple of alleged bodies.

He was pretty good with storytelling. As his songs kept bleeding into gaming and meme instagram edits I kept hearing his lyrics over and over. Eventually you start to realize he's pretty good at painting a picture in a lot of his songs.
like YNS said, you cant say you pro-black and you a fan of this nigga/drill in general lol.
said "legacy" come from the culturally wide phenomoma of black life being seen as nothing but a GTA 5 private server ala vince "senorita" music video.

Side note: they got video games of him gettin dropped
