krishna boundYou're right, and I'm not trying to defend the US's influence abroad. But the US isn't the sole purveyor of imperialism nor capitalism, even if it is often the worst. In the modern age liberal capitalism is a widespread pervasive force. Realistically in the modern age you'd need either a global uprising rather than a localized american one, or you'd need a full-on destruction of post-industrial means (I believe this is something even Engels himself wrote). I will also say that I would not make the mistake of assuming the proletariat is solely on the side of revolutionaries. I said this in another thread, but most of the most influential actual fascist regimes in history came from counter-revolutions because of the proletariat siding with counter-revolutionary governments and that accentuation of proletariat next to existing government ended with the opposition more powerful than the revolutionaries.
i believe we're at a point in history where capitalism is already on the precipice of its own destruction and taking the planet with it. it's an inherently unsustainable system, we can already see this worldwide and have been seeing it throughout our entire lifetime. so i agree that a global uprising is necessary but i also think the contradictions are becoming so apparent and will continue to become even more so as things like climate change wreck havoc across the world, which means the conditions for real change are being established and people are truly angry (as we can see right now). the goal then is for people to educate each other and do everything they can to prevent fascism opportunistically bringing the proletariat to their side, a real struggle with media so entwined with capital. i can see this sadly happening especially through promises of protecting people when it comes to climate change, trump did it albeit on a smaller scale when he made empty promises to poor people that he would make their lives better and they believed him. but it's the sheer number on the streets this past week combined with just how f***ed the current situation is that gives me hope something is possible, despite being obviously far too early to truly tell.

beast444why use bullets AT ALL?! if a protest is peaceful (like just about all of them were) there's no need for tear gas, batons, chemical bombs, bullets, none of that riot gear crap. It really is absolutely crazy and there's still a pandemic on top of this. smh
Police are lining up to fight if people want to. Not even protect properties a lot of the time

Exactly. I mean I get batons and even something for crowd dispersal like tear gas but a BULLET of any kind is absurd.

GoldThat blackout s*** from yesterday seems to have taken the wind out of a lotta people.
I think it's more to do with the national guard, widespread arrests and enforced curfew all converging at the same time and making people feel powerless
they have taken away the right to protest with this curfew s***, it's given them a free pass to remove that from us.
here in LA they will only let you go where they allow, blocking major roads so crowds cant access them, and then once the clock strikes 5 they have all the power to lock you up. I cant access big streets here without passing a horde of guards with ARs, always watching over everyone. It's spooky.
And it makes you feel helpless and small

they need to stay there. i' still kinda nervous about them being released, but if they are we know ALL hell will break loose. They don't wanna leave the jailhouse cuz if they do, the Minneapoleans will make them wish they didn't.
