Genuinely confuses me why people look to celebs and artists to push political change forward, that’s never been a thing historically

The change comes from regular working class people, not the ones who actively benefit the most from the system/current state of affairs

That “savior” s*** is over blown. This nigga Dot’s content has always been balanced. He made music reflecting his community and the goals and tribulations they go through, his personal life, and also regular west coast rap s***. It only elevated as he elevated, obviously the bigger he gets he’s gonna speak on society at large, address the rap field at large. But it ain’t like he made Christian music lol

But he’s never been f***in Dead Prez or Rage against the machine, or even f***in Prime Jay Elec or Lupe Fiasco. Its fans and publications that placed that sensationalized his music because he broke through the mainstream ceiling a lot of those other niggas couldn’t.

Still I don’t have an issue with challenging artists to speak on injustices, but the energy of the last part isn’t the same across the field.

Nice to see this f***er can put on a show but not speak out against ICE or immigration

Oh but that's right he's just an entertainer not a politician right?

Emmy's for a fake deep political half time show but only pick and choose when you wanna be political got it

Yes man because he makes music about his life and the world around him that means he a man who never makes public statements has to make a public statement about a political situations while it’s happening even tho he’s historically never done that and said don’t look at me to do that lol

don’t get how weirdly vitriolic some people are at people who attempt to use their career to speak about stuff that’s good to speak about for not talking about this or that thing.

Why be a conscious rapper when now everyone expects you to be a figurehead talking about every crisis, bad thing, activist issue immediately. Correct he isn’t a politician. Call your local politicians and pressure people who impact stuff instead, misdirecting it at random celebrities won’t help the issue causing said hurt.
