After the Lakers failed to get Hurley, there was no news or anything. We didn't even hear JJ's name again until days later.
Even if they were waiting on JJ because of the finals, they could've interviewed him, agreed to years before hand and just wait until the finals ended to announce it.
Instead, they did everything at the last minute a week before the draft and JJ didn't get hired until days after the finals ended.
It's also odd that he was the main candidate for the job and James Borrego got a 2nd in person interview before him.
