Everyone back healthy but too rusty to play defense

JJ Redick on the Lakers' loss to the Bulls: "Our defense. Give up 44 points in the paint. Our turnovers killed us all night."

JJ Redick says the Lakers get some "grace" since guys are just coming back, but he was unhappy with their defense and turnovers tonight.

He added there may have been an aspect of them believing they could just pick up where they left off before the injuries.

JJ Redick added he feels this is the worst the Lakers' defense has looked all year.

JJ Redick: "It didn't feel like our group, overall, really had juice tonight."

The 146 points allowed by Lakers are tied for their most ever in a non-OT home game. They also allowed 146 to Nuggets on 11/6/1984

JJ Redick: "Our success, this season, since January, has been based on our defensive disposition and our ability to defend as a team and our individual pride on the ball and our individual pride in doing your job with whatever it may require. ... That's going to determine our success for the next three weeks and that's going to determine our success if we are able to secure a postseason berth."

Luka Doncic said it's "always great to have people back" from injury but acknowledged the first game is usually rough.

He also gave the Bulls credit and took accountability for his turnovers that led to easy transition points.

Luka Doncic:

"We gotta forget about this game and focus on the next one."

Luka Doncic: "I think they scored a lot of transition points, especially on my turnovers. Got to do that better. I mean, I can't be losing the ball seven times. That's way too many for me."

Rui Hachimura believes it will take some time for the Lakers to get back into a rhythm after some guys missed some time.

"Everybody was kind of looking at each other like who's gonna do what."

Rui Hachimura says the Lakers' defense was "awful" today and that end of the floor will be the key to their success.

"We just gotta focus on defense. Our offense will be fine, we know that."

Rui Hachimura said his knee is around 70-80% healthy and they will need to continue managing it moving forward.

He needs "a lot of rest" in order for it to get fully healthy and acknowledged he doesn't have that benefit right now given the schedule.

The Bulls are apparently the greatest offensive team in the league

So did he lie to the training staff to be able to come back sooner?

there's other guys on the team that are managing injuries that aren't 100% too

Right now, lakers need him so hes gonna push through it and manage it carefully.
