I love the franchise & the comics but the fandom around them is insufferable most of the time lol

I couldn’t care less if she’s a mutant or not as long as they don’t put her in the X men and make her a focal point of that team

  • Jul 15, 2022

Ms marvel hopping thru all the teams is part of the comics tho no?

as an outside none comic book reader, i couldnt give less of a f*** about this mutant s*** lol. seems like a bunch of bickering about semantics. can someone explain to me why, other than deviating from the comics, people being mutants or not makes any difference?

edit: catering to comic book readers will always result in more failure than success. ik how ignorant this is, but it's true.

There’s a fine line between an inhuman and a mutant so it’s definitely more than semantics. But if people don’t care then they don’t care

totally get it. i just think people forget that the comic correctness only takes up a fraction of Marvel's creative teams brain because id argue most people watching dont read the comics/only fresh themselves up on comic book wiki to get a general rundown of what to expect.

Bruh catering to comic book fans is one of the biggest reasons why the MCU even got as huge as it did from The Avengers on

The s*** that comic book fans want in superhero movies gets eaten up by general audiences lol. Disparity between general audiences and comic book fans is a myth, and proving that it was a myth is arguably the biggest part of the legacy of the MCU.

The highest grossing and most celebrated Marvel films are the most comic booky and filled with fan service. Hell why do you think the first Spider-Man captured the imagination of audiences so much in 2002 while Blade and X-Men didn’t come close to that Reeve Superman type effect or cultural impact?

I think he means the little things like how Kamala’s powers are light based now and the fact that she’s a mutant now. Not overall comic book themes

Oh well yeah but that shouldn’t even be mentioned cause general audiences don’t know about that to begin with. They have no frame of reference to care lol

Even Spider-Man 2002 took liberties getting rid of his web shooters and giving him the ability to regenerate webs

  • Jul 15, 2022

They don’t need to be 1:1 comics accurate

But the CREATORS need to be passionate about the character and it’s source material imo. Thats the deciding factor

Raimi changed his webshooters but you can tell he loved Spider-Man and the organic web shooters just bent the lore of spidey into raimi world a bit more. Supernatural freak s*** over scientific inventions is Raimi

I feel it’s if the writer/director change a lot of lore AND don’t know anything about the source material where it’ll probably not work

Side note: I really wish comic book fans would let this idea go that Doom is the most popular Marvel villain. I’ve been seeing it a lot again after that concept leak. I get it he’s the most respected amongst us purists but that’s it!

Marvel’s most popular villain is Venom and it has been for at least the last 20 years and it ain’t close

Would’ve been if it weren’t for the Venom movies piling on top of Venom already being Marvel’s most popular villain. But even then idk. Venom is a cultural symbol, the guy’s face is even on peoples bumpers lol

Infinity War got Thanos in the convo tho for sure. He’s arguably the most iconic Marvel villain on film so there’s that
