It's more about the buildup to the entire conflict, Infinity stones definitely had a lot of buildup in the Infinity saga which even led to the revisiting the old moments of the franchise in Endgame.

They failed in building up the incursions stuff. I guess only Doctor Strange 2, Loki and The Marvels have built up to this movie.
