perhaps i'm not being as fair as I could and spilling a lot of ink just think the movies are a bit tonally light, and they weight of the moments are dispersed through everyone in his circle compared to just on him which creates a different kind of tension and weight to his actions as spiderman. in fairness i was a kid watching characters older than me compared to now.

i'm splitting hairs for stuff i have a harder time putting concisely. a lot of the moments of the past few movies didn't resonate as much with me and its just a personal thing. but i do feel like they hit the nail on a lot here.

i really like how they used certain motifs in threes like his memory with aunt may and his senses overwhelming him compared to how he later embodies them. banner being a dr connors stand in that the audience has a relationship with is really cool and to me isn't just as arbitrary as some people are saying, its pretty clear how nasty of a road the tech he makes could lead to and banner makes that apparent when asking him.

really hope he has a few more solo spiderman movies

Comparison is the thief of joy

The Raimi verse is almost 25 years old, and was directed by someone with a very unique vision. We simply won’t get anything else like those films ever again, and I think that’s ok

The Holland films are all doing something entirely different, but the Raimi comparisons still get made every time a new film comes out.
I just don’t think the Raimi films should be the definitive template on how to make a Spiderman film, a Spidey film can be told in a lot of different ways
