Proff X isn’t really meant to British/have a British accent right? Is it one of those things that took hold in the movies and kinda just became ubiquitous with the character?
new yorker who spends a decade studying in london essentially

Ok never mind about Abbot
But there’s not enough established POC characters. You’re asking them to start from scratch just because white people are mad that a character is a different color
Every new adaptation of a property is just that, a new adaptation. Shouldn’t modern adaptations reflect modern times? It’s fiction after all. If the character’s race has to do with their identity then I’d understand but it seems people don’t have a problem or get over it when it’s a lesser character like Perry White or Gordon or Moneypenny being race swapped but when it’s Superman, Batman, or James Bond they lose their minds
And tbh someone just has to be the first one to bite the bullet and race swap cause then in the future people will be like “well theyve been a different race before so it’s ok” like the recent Two Face discourse or Perry White is now very much accepted as black
Long Rant incoming-
I disagree I think there are enough and that people don't really invest in them both on the fan side and the studio side. Invest in them don't take the easier route for studios where they can have a black guy be Cyclops knowing that'll be the only places he's black same as MJ.
I don't disagree with this take at all and it's generally my take but if you're looking to give true representation for people giving them one offs in an adaptation imo isn't the way to go.
Because then just as easily as you decided to make them black someone can make them white again versus an actual black character who would be permanent representation if they succeeded IE John Stewart who has eclipsed all other Lanters in the general public eye or Miles Morales who is now almost equal to Peter.
If Miles was just a black Peter or if John was just black Hal Jordan I don't think either would have had the impact they've had or lasted as long because the odds of a black version of those kinds of characters winning out is low.
That's the harsh reality gang is Moneypenny and Gordon can be black because they're side-kicks those are the kinds of characters who can be changed in that way generally speaking because they don't have any fans fr.
Even Two Face was black like once and he didn't end up Two Face in the films anyway because the next director and everyone else decided to do Two-Face as he has always been because that's what happens when you open up a new interpretation of a character it's just a nother way of doing them versus if you adapt an actually black character it actually opens the door for a black character with history.
The race swap argument to me just kind of relies on the hope that everyone will ditch the original version of already popular characters(not side one's) and that rarely if ever happens but we've seen time and time again a legacy character whose not white or an outright original has a better chance of winning the public's affection.
if you're making an artistic choice fine but if you're really trying to make an actual difference and push diversity I think doing a Static Shock movie would be a better move than a black Superman or a Spawn film over a black Batman in the long run.
In one scenario you just open people's minds to maybe another non white person getting a role but in the other you open up a permanent slot for non white actors should that character be popular

do we know which day the Marvel panel is?
do we know which day the Marvel panel is?
I think the entire Disney film panel is at 7 pst on Friday
do we know which day the Marvel panel is?
August 14th at 7pm PST
It's a general Disney Entertainment Panel so there's gonna be more than just Marvel
If they’re going back to previous Marvel actors to cast Xavier, might as well do the same for Magneto. Lee Pace is the perfect choice
Magneto, Shaw, Professor X

and Lena Dunham as Mystique. Perfect!
silicon valley ahh villains
storm is a hard cast imo
Let that be a slow burn situation, no need to hit the turbo button on that.
I wasn’t saying straight away, Mildred. I’m actually kinda bored of the love triangle and Phoenix stuff so hope it’s a lot further down the line. Feel the same about Wolverine, hope they keep him for future down the line too. Fox overdid it all.
Magneto, Shaw, Professor X

and Lena Dunham as Mystique. Perfect!
Love that guy on the right. Had a great look and voice and presence on screen in girls
