meh, not bad but not great either. Definitely not worth watching in IMAX though
first MCU film that i feel like improves when i reflect upon it more but i still don’t feel the urge to have any rewatch anytime soon

Heard the cinematography was beautiful though, so the film isn't improved by seeing it on a giant screen?

If you’re gonna see it in a premium screen go to Dolby
Why didn’t you pay attention
Was working at home while trying to watch lol
Eternals is good but it could have been a masterpiece.
The potential really was there.
Chloe a hack?

feel the exact same way

yea its beautiful but still not IMAX worthy
Chloe a hack?
not sure.
she might be overrated for sure but not a hack.
I think Marvel Studios and her got conflicting visions and tried to compromise as much as possible.

like the ideas played with are awesome and some of the arcs and characters are very interesting to think about more.
Just not feeling like sitting down for that long again. Especially through that first act

This was originally supposed to be released before she even won her Oscar. I think people over hyped her Oscar win to sell the movie.
Full thoughts:
Eternals is a really good movie. I struggle to call it great. It was missing something that would've brought it over to great. I don't know what that is. I will say, for the most part, it does not feel like your typical Marvel Studios movie.
The film is beautifully shot with some beautiful character moments throughout. Shoutout to Disney for not caving to these narrow minded countries and cutting out Phastos' relationship.
The way this film expands upon the MCU is grand and I really loved it. Learning more and more about a world I know is something I really appreciate in storytelling in general. It did however kind of dwarf the stakes in the Infinity Saga, but that also makes me think the stakes in Phase 4 will be much bigger.
The characters were really likable for the most part. I liked the core Eternals (Gemma
) and I liked how the movie told us their history in the way it did. Druig, Makkari, and Kingo were other standouts.
The action is well done, especially the stuff with Ikaris and I feel like it gave me some of what I would like to see with Superman in a sense. The comedy is typical MCU comedy but it mostly worked for me.
Now I do have some gripes. I felt like the Deviants were not much of a threat. They tried to show that but in the end it didn't really work. The first act drags a little, but weirdly the movie didn't feel like 2.5 hours. Dane felt wasted, no doubt about it. This movie also repeats a trope that has been done a lot in the last few years. There is also one more thing I would get into here but that would require spoilers.
Overall I had a good time with Eternals, but it's not top tier MCU, nor is it bottom tier. I would put it in like the high mid-tier.
Repeating the rating: 7.8/10
Post credit scenes were fire tho
Iron man 3 has the most personality out of any movie marvel has released , actually feels like there’s a director behind it
Love seeing the IM3 love ITT
I feel like it’s such a hated movie but it’s one of my favs in the MCU tbh
i really liked this movie, but my brother asked me to explain it to him bc he has 0 interest. and as i was explaining the movie i realized just how f***ing good this is.
The pacing issues had nothing to do with Zhao.
She can change little things but the overarching plot and script was done by Patrick Burleigh, Ryan Firpo and Kaz Firpo under the watchful eye of Feige, as it’s always been with MCU movies.
Hence why the movie felt in a lot of ways like every other Marvel script.
And I won’t hear any Nomadland slander, that script looked like f***ing Forrest Gump in comparison to this one.
7/10
gemma Chan
Wild Gemma Chan getting Disney work after being caught out in public doing booger sugar with Lily James but I’m happy for her.
