mgs v is magnificently overrated imo
Never played the series growing up, starting playing 5 a couple years ago right after losing my job,
Put 250hrs into it in 2 weeks 😆

basically same
after 7 years i finally s ranked the main mgs v missions and unlocked raiden
a quiet exit might be the hardest mission in the entire series

real G accomplishment.

if konami pulls off delta i hope they remake peace walker next
Peace walker is on Xbox and I've been hesitant to buy it in case they remaster/remake it

needs updated controls so bad its borderline unplayable for boss levels

MGS V was the remake
just beat mgs2. i tried to play it like a year and half ago and couldn't get over how clunky it felt (i had to watch a no commentary playthrough of 1 for the same reason) but i decided to just put the effort in and play it
the gameplay was a mixed bag for me. sometimes it felt really good and responsive and other times it was just kinda frustrating and annoying. i don't need to have my hand held but sometimes it felt like the game was withholding information from me for no reason and i'd have to look up how to proceed only to find out that i needed to backtrack for an item i didn't even know existed. it only happened a few times but still, it was annoying. i get it though, it's just an older style of game design
the dialog between rose and raiden
i live for that over the top, sappy, cheesiness lol, it was cute
story wise i was pretty indifferent to what was going on until the end when s*** really starts popping off. pretty much instantly everything changed and that was awesome. the twist of fortune not actually having any powers but then creating her own luck and defending the group from all the missiles chefs kiss. the ending message was beautiful as well
super excited to play the remake of snake eater when that comes out later. i'll probably play revengeance between now and then

I feel like revengeance is an overlooked game. Some really high highs and unique design decisions
Still has the annoying metal gear quirkiness though which takes you out sometimes. Just an interesting title over all

I mean it's not over the shoulder as that wasn't really implemented in games yet, but other than that I feel like it still holds up pretty well gameplay wise. Jmo. Glad you played it as it's a classic. Whole series is.
On another note, its crazy how much better games like mgs 2 and 3 look compared to other PS2 games. Kojima has always been amazing for all his titles graphics wise. Can't even say it's because they were late in the consoles lifespans either as mgs 2 came out like a year after PS2 dropped and mgs 4 came out like a year after PS3 dropped. And they are still some of the best looking games for their respective hardware.
give me a mgs4 port.
Man mgs4 has been under the freaking jail of the PS3. That s*** is stuck there.
I do got a hunch if we are going to get a vol2 collection, it will probably be around the time Delta drops to help promote that. And if that doesn't have mgs4 then idk lmao

Yo they redid the snake eater song. What y'all think.
I personally f*** with it. The whole redone intro, with different scenes and real orchestrated song was dope. Hopefully this mean that the entire soundtrack has been redone. Not changed, just using real orchestra and instruments this time. And you should be able to use the original soundtrack as well if you want
Edit: Just read that the soundtrack will be redone so that excites me. Hopefully they do better than what ffx did
i beat revengeance last night, only took like 5 hours lol. it was just ok. writing was pretty silly but enjoyable for what it was. combat was kinda clunky though, which was disappointing cause i feel like i've heard the combats praise just as much as all the memes. i could never get the parry to work consistently even though it seemed like a pretty simple system. doesn't help that the camera was pretty s***. ended up not really mattering cause i just used the "defensive offensive" skill instead and also just button mashed my way through a lot of fights

It’s fun for what it is but it’s not in the same league as the base series
