Maybe this? MJ studio footage is impossibly scarce + up until 2 years ago we had only seconds of clips at best
the bg singers had to be s***tin bricks in that season
Bruce sweidien
I think its a list of takes
I would like to see this sheet in more detail, like what each box is for and what not
MJ literally got better as a producer and songwriter in the 90s but the work was overlooked cause of the allegations.
No engineers on KTT can break that sheet down for me???
They got like 44 takes of the one line that they going over, I know what a tracking sheet is but I need a take sheet, that would make punching in soooo much easier

The recorded dozens of vocal takes, they're going through each one one by one to do what is called Comping > Making a perfect vocal take by picking and choosing what they consider to be the best bits of what they recorded.
The sheet is just to keep track of this, they write down what line they are taking from which take, for example :
"Each day" from take 7
"Like it's" from take 23
"The last" from take 12
Etc...
Incredibly ahead of its time tbh
Janet in general ahead of her time

they also did this because of lack of autotune and having to physically cut tape
I don’t think you’d ever need a take sheet these days even if you don’t pitch correct your vocals, because of how quick you can audition take lanes in stuff like Ableton and splice in and out of each take lane
Michael Jackson Jam Studio Footage
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwDRfgjrAk0jam is so f***ing crazy bro, all of his songs and the decisions within them are so undeniable
Understand how they are ranking each take….
thats a lot of sauce to just give out like that

This has nothing to do with singing in the wrong pitch though

Your right. This is just how vocal comping was done back in the day, thank god for computers

In a song where you sing it’s not about the best takes?
I’m confused as hell

It's mostly about delivery, energy, intonation, emotion... Michael barely ever went off pitch in studio sessions.
