  • Overrated:

    Hamnet (people are doing a lot over this and I just can’t get behind it)
    Companion (was strongly perplexed by the message of this film)
    Friendship (you gotta be a certain type of guy to enjoy this. They were saying this was the best comedy in YEARS?! Absolutely NOT)

    Some underrated films I’ve seen this year that either I feel were just underseen or rated too lowly (according to Letterboxd community):

    Love, Brooklyn (this film has been absolutely shafted, hardly any promotion was given to this whatsoever and it’s a solid romantic drama!!)
    The Woman in the Yard (wayyyyy better than Carry-On)
    After The Hunt (genuinely don’t understand the hate for this)
    Mountainhead (okay I know why some people dislike this but this movie funny as hell man)

    I still rated the film a 3/5 but some people act like this was some slop bottom tier of the year and I just don’t see it.

    This s*** was ass. One of the worst movies I've ever seen not even being hyperbolic. A rare 2/10

    Underrated: The Monkey

    Dropped at the beginning of the year and no one cared but I had a great time in theaters

    Overrated: The long walk

    Bad adaptation of a book that did not need to be made into a movie. Very overrated main duo

    u right love, brooklyn was easily the most underrated had that been with materialist cast and released in feb for vday it wouldve been on everyones GOTY list easily
