while i do think a lot of the old hate i saw for him came from a bad place at times,

He honestly is not an innovator nor is he an exceptional artist in his lane and it irks me seeing a white rapper get gassed for what is essentially mediocre worse versions of s*** his peers do.

its annoying that hes one of the first names ppl mention 4 the scene as he is nowhere near one of the leaders of ts hes just a whiteboy who won't embrace his own style (which he has but for some reason just doesnt do much)

early life crises was the highest selling record of this rage wave and the most label supported aswell. nett was signed atleast a year or two before osamason, che, and xaviersobased.

part of that was because seeing a white child with blonde hair do a triller with a strap entices america and get this repulsed response that lures people in.

genius marketing, but labels knew what they were doing him signing him before ANY of the guys that people actually like who actually innovated in the scene

i do like the corrupted youth concept its actually cool, however i would've expected by now he would do something more interesting w it but i feel dissapointed

he always just does what sounds like a gentrified version of osama, che, xav etc since BAFK.

like this is maybe the most ive ever heard someone carried by a beat ever in my f***ing LIFE.

the fact he was the first one to get big and some people see him as the face of the scene to an extent is jus a model example of the white rapper phenomenon.
another good example of this is phreshboyswag

he f***ing sucks. everyone knows he sucks. Nobody likes him.

But his whiteness means unlike the real talented beloved people like xav or osama these guys got all the first looks out the scene and worked towards being the first exposure of the sound to a lot of the general public. elc was the highest fw of any of his peers

mad listeners had the actual innovators' lane stained with this image in their mind by the time the innovators got to the same level of motion, they had to deal with those people dismissing them or any mention of their influence.

none of this is nett phresh or xav's fault nor any of the other guys here but its a testament to a certain phenomenon thats worth noting, and a good example of how white rappers' whiteness provides them a benefit that inevitably causes some level of harm to the black creatives of the genre

A white guy getting unwarranted credit for what his (presumably) black peers do. So the hate isn’t from a bad place. Either the first statement is true or the second one isn’t, you need to decide which irks you more - a white guy being hated on or a white guy getting unwarranted credit over his black peers

oh what i mean by that is a lot of the hate i seen in the past is not hitting on that point, but rather s***ting on someone for substance abuse issues or just old heads s***ting on him in the context of s***ting on the whole scene collectively

which i don't support, esp because his peers are actual innovators and he, is not.

The 2nd option as you said is my focus

maybe they intuitively picked up on this aspect that i overlooked, but didnt know enough about the scene to really know what it is that bothered them about him so it came out misplaced. but i don't really want that to be the focus its just footnotes cuz mans have heard me talk ab bro before.

also worth noting that early life crises was the highest selling record of this rage wave and the most label supported aswell. nett was signed atleast a year or two before osamason, che, and xaviersobased. che isnt even signed yet so make that three lol

and part of that was because seeing a white child with blonde hair do a stupid triller with finger guns entices america and get this repulsed response that lures people in.

it feels very eminem. genius marketing, but labels knew what they were doing him signing him ebfore ANY of the guys that are actually good at this s*** and innovated in it.

kinda is. It’s a modern example of how labels capitalizing off whiteness leads to awarding mediocrity and how it hurts the black innovators in black music and erases their contribution and impact.

The fact nett was signed for years before Xavier, Osama, che, etc and there’s a portion of outsiders who have had their view of the scene tainted by white boys who are glorified NPC characters cause of it also hurts those artists. And it shows how none of the artists nor fans here are necessarily aware in their complicity while it happens.

Add onto it that we know these labels are paying for a lot of these hate trains on new ug artists for business competition tactics too, and it becomes even more important I think. Esp because it leads to ppl like xav and Osama being put in this same bucket and dismissed because of how the mediocre gentrified forms of their music has defined it to ppl, and as such their influence and impact has the opportunity to be undermined.
Ironically, by the same people who probably would be furious hearing this unconsciously having done it alr due to that system of manipulation.

Yea he has some good songs for sure. Ion think he’s totally ass as an artist just mediocre. He would be p good if he would stick to his sound and what made him unique instead of just impersonating his peers
