The last 15 minutes of the new special was kind of wild, especially his closing remarks, he touched on Trans topics in his Dave Chappell fashion
I like Dave chappelle so it’s really nothing new to me, but for someone who is just getting into Dave this is hard for them, especially in the climate were in now, it really was some Dave Chapelle show s*** in 2021 which doesn’t really fly anymore

The most wild thing to me was how he said he would give Daphnies kid the money he set up in the trust fund, and then proceeded to misgender the kids dead parent as a joke
I hope the kid doesn’t feel some type of way about it

I’m not saying taking offense to the standup is absurd…that’s up to the individual…..but…it’s kinda supposed to be offensive. It’s an art form based on testing the limits of political correctness with absurdity, sarcasm, and hyperbole. If I took stand up as a literal evaluation of the comic’s moral standards, I just wouldn’t be able to really stand by any of them. You have to kinda suspend reality to enjoy it.

It almost has to be so absurd so you don’t take it seriously. And from a comics pov, the best joke is going at someone he or she perceives can’t take a joke. They relish in this. All the greats do. Hence when they zero in on a heckler. Stand up is a weird space like that. It’s not for everyone. I haven’t seen much in terms of fellow comics mad at Dave Chappelle like they were Kramer. I could be wrong. There’s a huge difference in doing a bit, and just having a breakdown on stage and lashing out.

It would be too much to put in a single post, just watch the last 30 mins of the special and construct your own opinion without other people putting their bias on it

He was purposely being calloused and going hard because he even said himself this is his last special for a while and he wouldn’t make trans/gay jokes until they feel like they can be apart of the joke without calling it “punching down” and realize when people are making fun of you they are treating you equal because everyone’s an open target, which lets be honest will never happen
This will prob be his last special in my opinion

He still doing comedy shows but yeah no special until society kind of is less volatile or reactionary

If you don’t want to support Dave or Netflix then pirate it

But you can’t criticize something you haven’t watched lol
