ty for this lmao was about to peep
i'm catching up before the final episodes drop. still about 1.5 episodes left to catch up on, but man wendy sucks. its not like breaking bad where skylar was a mostly good person and audiences hated her cuz they were being dumb. in this case they're making her overly villainous.... and it's working because i hope she dies
reviews seem to be rolling out. kinda looks like this final half will be hit or miss for some.
personally not super excited after the first half since it felt a bit disappointing to me. can't really put my finger on what i didn't like though.

the bigger the show gets in scope, the more absurd the plot feels. it's one thing to have darlene killing people left and right and selling heroine and getting away with it because the local redneck law enforcement is in her pocket, but it's another thing when we're seeing the head of a billion dollar cartel and the higher ups at the FBI making absurd moves. I would compare it to House of Cards in that it's well produced but the plot swings are very over the top which makes it hard to buy in as a viewer.
it feels like the cartel is solely focused on the Byrdes and their relatively rinky dink money laundering operation, LOL. the the byrdes are brokering deals between cartels and the FBI like what?
it's just not a very grounded show. I would say Breaking Bad was a show where crazy s*** happened but it stayed as grounded as it could in terms of why things happened and character motivations and consequences. Ozark is outside the realm of reality, more like a soap opera. it might have always been like that, but as I said now that we're dealing with international agencies it seems more absurd than ever.
and on a character level, things like jonah money laundering for a homicidal heroine dealer thus putting him in the midst of a war with a cartel is just like wait what why would he do this, how is this logical
say your prediction before the final episodes drop: when the show ends, how many of the four family members will be alive? extra credit if you get the dead ones right.
I say 3.
dead = jonah

that would be the best case scenario tbh

1 and it will be Jonah

so you got the exact opposite of me, damn

Sometimes I wonder if they have a writers room, because that made Breaking Bad to be as grounded as they could make it. Obviously there was some dramatic stuff and some straight up not possible stuff,but Ozark doesn't know when to chill LMAO
