Exactly! You get it! And I still maintain I don’t think when Kendrick jumped out the window with Like That, that he planned that far out. I think his competitive nature to hearing Drake and Cole trade bars about being the GOAT without him got to him as it should if you’re in that conversation.

I think after Taylor Made is where Kendrick was like oh I’m using everything I can get my hands on to pack you up. Lowkey the industry wanted Kendrick to be face of league anyway but Drake’s numbers were undeniable. All the people he was at odds with, contract dispute, general public thirsty to see him fail and then Kendrick beefing all aligned at the same time.

His team used that to their advantage wonderfully. As well as Drake rapped throughout it just didn’t matter because Kendrick used the power he had.

Humbling is not the word I would use. Like they were out to do a good deed or something.

Not when colluding like that. It was malicious imo.

Drake had become to powerful for Universal/Lucian and they maybe fell out because of that. Thats not humbling, its cut throat. As said... it was to f*** up Drakes brand, his image, his money and so on. Instead of Drake, get Kendrick to take over being the cash cow for them. Kendrick being perfectly fine doing this and getting the glory/accolades says a lot about his true character. He is basically the labels b**** now. Not some savior of rap or the culture.

And connecting, orchestrating it with other artists... media and other insiders. It is not stars aligning, its conspiring. Or colluding.

Drake wasnt taking the bait from Like That, initially. I think he might have been well aware of things. Knew something was gonna happen, but didnt know when. Evidently he already alluding to stuff on FATD, as I mentioned. There was tension behind the scenes.

He was still weighing his options, when Cole did what he did.

Maybe Cole didnt know and had been left in the dark, but his actions left Drake with few options. As the pressure on him to respond or say something increased.

Cole getting a call and likely hearing about the plans, how many people were involved... made him back out imo. Probably just getting the word about that the fix was in and he better back down. Drake is the target, but you will be collateral if you dont bow out.

Even if he wasnt setting Drake up on purpose, that doesnt make him come off very good imo. To me that is a betrayal that cant be forgiven and very poor. He cant ever say something slick or pop off like he is a tough guy ever again.

I feel you. Humble wasn’t the right word but for a lack of a better word. I definitely think he was getting too big for the box the label wanted to keep him in. Like I said before to be in Drake’s position for as long as he was, you’ve gotta step on some people and piss them off to stay there.

I’m curious to see how long Kendrick stays in this position. He can’t go dark for 2-4 years no music and stay there. Being the top guy, you’ve gotta carry the industry in a sense. It’s not Kendrick style to put out music consistently like Drake did or Cole’s either. If it was they would’ve been in Drake’s spot years prior.

Back to the Cole thing, it is an interesting angle because he is/was? Good or close friends with Drake and Kendrick so by staying in the middle that was essentially picking a side. Idk if you’ve heard his album yet, but he has a record What If where he raps from Big and Pac’s perspective. It is an allegory for the Drake-Kendrick beef. I thought was interesting to see his stance on it.

I wouldn’t have played it like he did but it did make more sense after listening to that track. Just fun to speculate on stuff like this because we’ll truly never know lol

  • A daughter that's 11 years old and he really took it. Goated track fr
Family Matters is the appetizer for this. This joint got my favorite bars of the beef ngl I'm grinning every time "breeding resentment" "Niggas gotta B sharp-" "Sounding like you sending him some commission" bar for bar THP6 was peak. No pre-recorded track was topping this and lowkey we all know it. Almost 2 years later and this track still stings the worst to them niggas. They be coping the hardest for this one itt
