Because its album of the decade.

The columbine line vs darkness. Big juxtaposition, big change in maturity Level

Finished my first listen. Imo it's a 6.5/10

Not as bad as everyone says

Some redundant topics (Im white and I had it bad, you guys hate my old albums but I dont care) but some refreshing stuff

Some good, fluid sounding collabs not forced (Lock It Up, No Regrets)

Wasn't a fan of second half of Godzilla. Unnecessary fast flow and outdated references (Diddy / Cheesecake

Some of the hooks need work (Stepdad)

Songs like Never Love Again were great. Thought it was about a girl until the very end. Great writing.

The collab with Black Thought and Royce was bananas. Black might of had best verse on the album.

I Will needs all features cut

Leaving Heaven is same old bullshit, I need Em x Dina Rae back

Interesting flow on Farewell, was refreshing

The Young Ma song was cool

the ending on unaccommodating is dope

But, even to the untrained human eye
We ain't the same, you and I
Somebody should have explained to you why
For you to go against me, it's simply insane, you will die (Yeah)
That's why they call me Kamikaze, it's plain suicide, yeah
But I know magic and here go my last trick
I'm 'bout to say "Abracadabra" and pull a B Rabbit up out of my hat
I'm about to relapse and I betcha that you won't know how to react
But a look of disgust, I don't doubt it'd be that
As I begin to f***in' devour the track
And you backpedal that as a cowardly act
Like a Saudi attack when the towers collapse

When you first listened to mmlp you were captivated by this psychopath rapping and you hated yourself a bit for liking it and eventually grew to love it. Albums like this blend more into the background and are kind of unassuming in a way. But as long as he gives me a couple new songs to listen to these days I’m not too mad. But honestly he should stop making music

I have mixed feelings on Darkness.

On one hand, it feels inspired and the track itself is musically listenable. I also like how he is using his platform to spread a gun control message. If a black rapper did this, it wouldnt likely get attention from the general white public.

On the other hand, it can be interpreted by his audience that white people who commit violent acts are just mentally ill but doesn't break the labels put on minorities like "terrorist." And unfortunately, since a lot of his fan base interprets rap as "violent s***drugs money" music and him as "real hip hop about real things," it can fall on deaf ears possibly
