    Seeing Chat Pile,
Nightosphere and Gouge Away on Sunday

Chat Pile live is so ridiculous. I didn't expect it when I saw them in November

What surprised you the most about their performance?

rambling about films about or from the city we were in, having no set list/asking crowd to pick songs

    the shirtless 'dancing'

overall I was more suprised it became one of my favorite sets of 2024 if not my favorite. I just wasnt expecting stage presence like....that

If you aren't listening to Prostitute (Detroit) yet - why?

  • Mar 11, 2025

new feeble track has a cool noise section, reminds me of the armed - ultrapop

    added new info to op

    Cocaine Mitch
    Label: independent

    Bandcamp: cocainemitch.bandcamp.com/album/an-act-of-violence

Not a clue if this guy is in other bands, he must be, but it appears this whole project is all by one guy out in Brooklyn. "A joke that went on for too long" is apt for this record An Act of Violence (released January 7th 2025), which includes a heavy influence from modern slam bands with its egregious sample use, though is far more lyrical in a sense as it actually stands for something other than trailer park thotties and 40oz malt liquor. Very similiar to Full of Hell who also occassionally drowns themselves in noise. NY

    Prostitue
    Label: independent
    Instagram: instagram.com/attempted.martyr/?hl=en
    Bandcamp: prostituteband.bandcamp.com/album/attempted-martyr
    Merch (JUST released): deadair.store

With middle eastern themes heavily relevant, this Detroit band released Attempted Martyr which The Needle Drop Melon F*** apparently reviewed and gave an 8/10 which is what I would rate it too. It's a great album, but I definitly disagree with the idea that they're the best new hardcore band in Michigan right now (though that record is a top 10 Michigan Hc record of the past couple years). These guys are already blowing up day by day, especially with their charged Pro-Palestinian performances. They are starting a small 3-stop tour this weekend I believe.

    Pissed Jeans

    Bandcamp:

These guys have been around for awhile but still releasing great music. Their most recent is pretty easy to get into.

I had forgotten to post about the new chat pile live album

One of the best live records I've ever heard. Which makes sense, they are easily one of the best bands I've seen live

Vinyl orders are not live? I've been seeing ads on insta though.

I think they sound best on cassette so I'm hoping they do that, I've got the rest of their discog in that format already

Far as I can find these are the dates and cities, at least (most venues not listed yet):

    5/28 Queens, NY
    5/29 Ithaca, NY
5/30 North Adams, MA - Belltower Records
5/31 Newark, NJ - Newark Bike Project
    6/1 Philadelphia, PA - Space 1026

Birth (Defects)’ alleged final U.S. show is at a place called Holy Frijoles in Baltimore on June 13. I’ve been keeping up with them mostly by following one of their band members on IG, Joey Generic (who also heads their own noise rock band called Bloated Subhumans). Their account is called whendeathwontsolveyourproblem (No Trend reference, classic D.C. band everyone ITT should check out if they haven’t yet).

I haven’t watched myself yet since it’s mostly new songs and I want to go into the album fresh but here’s a last-minute set the band played in Baltimore the other night:

(The aforementioned Joey Generic is the one whacking stuff and twiddling knobs on stage left.)

The New Flesh, an older, equally dope Baltimore band:

  • mclusky fans ITT should also check out Shooting at Unarmed Men, the other band their old bassist Jon Chapple was in:
