The Lighthouse is top 5 of the century, period idc what anyone else says. Surreal experience every single watch. It's crazy how he pulled that one off without it coming off as an imitation or corny etc. like it's a modern masterpiece

I don't think any of his movies are like awful. At the least, its technically very impressive and The Lighthouse is no different. Technically its my favorite of his films but its so bloated as a film. Like half the runtime is spent doing absolutely nothing but giving us vibes. And usually the best kind of films that give you vibes such as Horse Money or The Thin Red Line do so with a real artistic and substantial point behind it. With the Lighthouse, its just to get you in a mood but you're watching all this just to what? See two dudes get into a d*** measuring contest? It's boring and the ending just feels like what a Yeezus fanboy would think is art.

How about both? I found it one note, the revenge s*** personally got tired to me (I'm aware it's a revenge tale, but almost all the characters were either grieving or angry ad nauseum), I didn't care for the dialogue, and I wasn't moved by anything outside of how visually stunning the film was. It's also way watered down compared to his previous works.

Christmas release date is still frustrating. This would’ve hit in October.
