Isnt that honestly the whole point of vampires tho
Like for victorians
Vampires represent evil sexual thoughts ruining society
So it plays on the victorian fears of a man sneaking into your own home to exchange fluids w your daughter or wife and there being nothing u cld do abt it
Or even do it to you yourself, thereforw a metaphor for homosexuality also being a negative in victorian society
Like thats the primary reading of bram stokers dracula
No allegories or metaphors in the film though
Haven’t watched yet
But they saying lily rose throwing it back at the vampire, is it true?
is that sarcasm
There was nothing radical about Eggers' version or any consistent scares. It's done technically well and visually it's good (maybe a bit too drab for me) but overall I got a lot of nothingness from the movie overall, no deeper meanings, imo
I dunno, The Northman definitely set him back a few paces imo
I'd argue the opposite - Beau set Aster a few paces back
Thought this was pretty good
Not his best, but still very enjoyable
Sometimes a movie is just good because the director is operating at such a high level that it just clicks even tho there are some issues (2nd half is weaker than the 1st imo, etc)

Funny, the way you describe this is exactly how I felt about the Northman
Think the only movie of his that Nosferatu doesn’t surpass for me is The Lighthouse

The whole movie is either her doing it or thinking about it so intensely she's o*****ing in gasps

This girl I’m in love with said this s*** fire?? That true?
It's not bad. I'm mostly making jokes that f***ing morons aren't getting, I wasn't necessarily a fan of the direction the story went but it was all logical and Willem dafoe was fantastic as always.
But it does boil down to lily being h**** af for a demon for 2 hours.

I’m afraid that’s just the Dracula story. Every movie I’ve seen of it falls off in the second half.

so this good?
Good movie. Probably my least favorite from Eggers tbh, but still really well done. Just felt it was missing something. I think I didn’t care enough for the main 2 characters? May take some time to articulate my issues with it. No glaring faults though, definitely an enjoyable watch.
Haven't read the comments here but does the movie live up to the hype?
No complaints. Very good movie
